From my new Thread - First Good Tow With New Ram 3500 and 68RFE
Well, I have to say, that I am totally impressed with my new truck and its towing prowess!
Even without the Aisin, the truck towed my 15,000K 5er flawlessly on a 3-1/2 hour trip through the mountains in BC to our destination at Halcyon Hot Springs.
Its strong through all the gears and on steep grades doesn't lose much in the climb. A little more foot into the peddle solved that.
I watched my temperatures on the long steep grades. Even with the 68RFE, there was some change people spoke of in temps. However, I feel not detrimental.
Here's what I found towing in Tow Hall mode:
These are in C and (F)
Normal Flats
Engine temp - 89*(195*F)
Trans temp - 76* (168*F)
Longest Steep Grade
Engine temp - Hit 100* (212*F) once
Trans temp - Hit 89* (195*F) once
This thing purred along at 75mph on the flats and didn't even know it was dragging something behind it.
Aside from it being a little thirsty due to pulling on the hills, I'm totally impressed!
