NNelson, if you want to get a good look at the RA before yours arrives, come see mine. In fact, I don't mind meeting you where you work in Fayetteville. I've had mine for about 6 weeks. I love the look. I initially had some problems, but Jim took care of them for me. This past weekend I borrowed 2 Fast 2 Furious from a friend and finally got to see Road Armor in action. It was pretty cool. :)

Let me know if you want me to drop by.

wishgrantter -

Did you try to file a claim with the shipper? I have never had a problem getting ahold of Jim. I know Kurt Henzler and PATRIOT_Ram can attest to the fact that they were able to get ahold of him too.

I am "TRYING" to call you right now but I cant find your number. If you get my point.

Kurt Henzler - What was the end result of what Jim was willing to help you out with? We all know how bad the winters up north east are. Especially with all of the road salt, sand and gravel they put down. Thats why you see so many vehicles all rusted out after they are 5-15 years old. If I were you I would just have the thing sand blasted and have a coat of bedliner spray (line-X)put on it. Or you could just PR-15 the whole thing. Since you are/were out of the finish warranty period.

jim is going to check with the company that used to do their power coating and show them my pictures of my peeling paint to see if they will back it up. ra now does their own power coating and he offered to re powder coat it for free because there was a problem with the first job. i have to pay shipping both ways because it is past the warranty period. checked into having it coated in pgh and the cheatest quote of three was 640. 00. i don't know what to do.

this winter has so mild in pgh. the temps have been 30-45 threw jan and feb. we didn't have one day of snow in deer season, nov 29-jan16, so there has not been much road salt.

Mine is peeling just like their's and I live in the South. It's not the weather, it was shoddy prep on the metal before it was coated.

I have followed this thread with some intrest, as I am (was) considering a new rear bumper with more beef. That said... A powder coated bumper with only a 90 day warranty???? All customer service issues aside here, these people should be ashamed of themselves!! I can get better protection than that with a spray can of ACME's finest. Rock chips should hardly be an issue for a quality paint/powder coat job, but to blame (1) winter elements on the failure to stay off rust??

They offer to reshoot if I pay the freight?? How's about ship me a (cheaper) bare unit, with no warranty or its associated cost, and I will use a freakin Sharpie* to "protect" my investment. If it lasts 91 days... I win.

For heaven's sake, my boat has a drive on it that lives in salt water, came with a 2 year warranty, with an option for 4 more. Now there's a paint job...

Do you work in Springdale? I think I caught a look at your truck today. How do you like the rear bumper? I have been thinking about getting a rear also. They looked pretty good.

I sure do. I work at the Tyson 412 West building. I'll be moving to the Fayetteville 6th Street building in a few weeks. I really like the rear bumper. It was a pain to install, but worth it. The cross member at the rear of the frame has to be removed for the bumper to be installed. To remove the cross member, the bed has to be unbolted and lifted up. I think I remember Jim at RA mentioning that they had a new design coming out that no longer required removal of the cross member, but I'm not sure if that one is available yet.

I want to see the intimidator when you get it installed. :)

Question from fairly new owner?? Has anyone with one of these awesome looking bumpers had and problems with suspension, alignment,DEATH WOBBLE, etc?

I have not had any problems with these items. The suspension did sag, probably about 1/2 inch. I also have a 100lb winch in my front bumper. It's nothing that a Kore suspension upgrade can't fix. :D

There is one other issue, but it isn't necessarily the fault of the RA. It's compounded by other things. My truck is very difficult to steer when it isn't moving. When it's moving, it's fine. The power steering IS, however, functioning properly. The contributing factors in order are:

a) My H2 wheels have a larger backspacing than stock wheels. I think that with stock wheels, the center of the tire area contacting the ground is roughly centered with the steering joints. (forgive my lack of technical terms) :) With the H2 wheels, the same center area is further away from the pivot point. This causes the wheel to not only turn left / right, but it also has to move slightly forward and backward during the turn. Maybe somebody else can explain that better than me. :)

b) I have 315/70/17 tires. There is a lot more tire rubber contacting the ground. This obviously takes a bit more force to turn when sitting still.

c) The RA bumper and winch weighs about 320 lbs. Subtract the stock bumper from that and you still have a lot of additional weight. This is also a contrubing factor to the difficult steering when not moving, but the first two issues are the primary reasons. The extra weight just increases the effect of the other two issues.

Yeah the 412 location is where I noticed it. I didn't want to give an exact location just in case you didn't want anyone to know. I pulled in and looked at them. They are really mean looking in person. I bet you don't have anyone pumping their brakes when you pull up to someone in the fast lane and they wont get out of the way. :-laf

I will let you know when it comes in so you can see. You do know that you can have your titan 2 bumper converted to an intimidator.

I am also thinking about getting the KORE pace suspension. I hear it performs really well. I wonder if we could get some kind of group buy thing going?

Not to hijack the thred, but I've heard wonderful things everywhere about Kore. Ask hoot about his. I've been seriously considering going that route, but I also want a small lift. Unfortunately, they don't offer much other than a leveling kit, but the suspension is great. Maybe they'll come out with something a bit higher. :)

Someone PMed me the following

I had someone that I assume wanted to remain anonymous PM me the following.

Glad to hear I'm not the only on who had a run

in with Buck Stop

I ordered mine in October 04 and it took 12 weeks

originally they said 5 weeks

for me to get my bumpers and then they

woudn't ship them to where I wanted them shipped

I had to drive a half hour to pick them up

on top of that they charged it to my credit card

4 weeks before I GOT MY BUMPERS

I wanted these bumpers for 2 1/2 years and I

wasn't happy once had to wait this long

my truck looks good with the bumpers on

this is just my 2 cents worth

It seems buckstop has had a Lead Time issue for a while.

Bumper is on its way!!

Received a call from Road Armor this week and guess what! My bumper shipped on 3/2/05. Called the transportation company and it should be here sometine next week. Oo. :-laf

So lets recap, This is considered a special order, custom fab bumper. Quoted me a possible 10-12 week build time. They called back and said they could possibly have it done in 5 weeks.

I ordered the unit on 2/4/05, they shipped it on 3/2/05. This = 26 days which = 3 weeks and 5 days. Now that is fast! Not only did they beat the first build time they quoted, they beat the second one too.

That is HALF of the time buckstop quoted me on just their normal run of the mill bumper.

Road Armor has been great and I would more than recommend them to anyone! I cant wait to get it installed. I will post pics as soon as it is installed. Should get it done next weekend. Next will be the rear bumper they make with light guards. :D

When you made the above statements, I asked a few questions to help clarify your situation. I have seen no post with a response.

Once again I ask, Why did you accept the item from the shipper if it was damaged? You have a right to refuse the item for delivery and have it shipped back.

How many times did you "TRY" to contact Road Armor? Did you e-mail them? Did you leave a message?

I have never had an issue getting ahold of someone or having my call returned when I have left a message or e-mail.

I of all people agree anyone has the right to complain about a bad product or bad situation etc. As long as you have done everything possible to resolve the issue in a timely manner and have fully allowed the company to try and fix the issue. To me it does not seem as though you have done this with RA.

It is a little hard for me to believe that you tried to get ahold of them with no response. Other people that have had issues have not complained about an inability to get ahold of someone.

Also you need to take some responsibility for lack of action. If the item was damaged when it arrived why did you not follow the below? It states on the Road Armor web site the below.

Before you sign for the shipment, inspect all cartons for visible damage and note it on the bill of lading. Even if no exterior damage is visible, open all packages immediately and inspect for damage or shortages. If you find that damage was done, immediately contact the freight company to start a claim and request an inspection. They will pick up and return the product to us for replacement. You must repackage all the items the way you received them with all packing and crating materials in place.

If it came as you stated you should have followed the above and had no problems with getting a replacement. Even if you got it home and were not satisfied you had the below to take advantage of.

Return Policy

If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase. You may return it within 15 days of when you received the product. Simply notify us by e-mail or phone. We will then issue a Return Material Authorization Number. If the items are returned in perfect condition. Actual shipping charges paid by Road Armor will be deducted from the purchase price, unless the return is due to our error. The following terms must be met by you.

--Return the merchandise to us within 30 days of your original receipt of the order.

--The products must be returned in new, resalable condition.

--You must include all packaging materials.

--Packaging materials must not be torn or damaged.

--You must pay any return shipping expense.

Display the RMA # prominently on the outside of the box to avoid delays to your refund. Upon receipt of the returned merchandise in good order in accordance with the above and within 15 days of original delivery, we will issue credit to your charge account.

It seem to me you are mostly to blame for your own situation. As you said "When it came it was bent beat up an chipped an starting to RUST on edges. " If this was the case you should have never signed for it from the shipper.

Just my . 02 cents

Don't take this the wrong way, but if your powdercoating peels off, I'm wondering if the RA cheerleading will contiunue?

Nnelson,

What day this week is your RA due in? Make sure you actually open the package before signing for the shipment. Mine had a sizable gash in it when I received it. The packaging was perfect. I talked to RA and they said sometimes things like that happen during shipping.
