talked to jim 14 days ago . i sent him pics of my peeling paint and he said he would look at them a contact me. no word from him. i emailed him and sent pics. i told jim i would not bash his product on the forum and give him a chance to make things right but it does not look like it is going to happen. there is no way my bumper was "powder coated" with the silver paint that i paided extra to get. if i would have purchased this thing in the winter the paint would have fell off in 60 days and it would be going back for good. put i was stupid and bought in the spring and when winter hit , the paint hit the floor. my 90 day warranty is up and they do not have to do anything for me.

i am taking it to a linex and rhino dealer this week. one guy quoted me 425 to rhino line the bumper part. i am so mad i can not not type

Don't take this the wrong way, but if your powdercoating peels off, I'm wondering if the RA cheerleading will contiunue?

I predicted a future post titled something like : "I've been screwed by RA" a few weeks ago when this post went up.

I think we should start a pool for when the RANTS will start because the powdercoating failed! We just need to know when the actual bumper install date will be. Then you can pay a buck for each date/time you predict the posting will show up! Whoever guesses closest WINS the pot!

(No offense RA, I hope your powercoating on the bumper for this guy is like a freakin' diamond or you know you are dead meat!) ;)

The bumper should be picked up by myself tomorrow from the local shipping station. It will also be installed tomorrow night barring any bad weather. I will post pictures as soon as it is on.

NNelson -- If everything goes well, I want to see that thing after you get it on. If you have any questions about the install, feel free to give me a call. PM me for my number if you want it.

SHyans -- I had some issues with my RA when I received it, but they were resolved. I am now having some problems with my GR539 silver powder coating. It has flaked off on a few of the smaller edges and there some spider web cracking in a few areas also. It isn't very noticable yet, but of course the bumper is only a couple months old. I e-mailed RA and they said that they would gladly honor the problems under their warranty -- no issues there at all. The problem is getting the warranty work done. Okay, I can take my bumper off the truck and ship it back to Oregon, get it powder coated, and then wait for it to come back. If I'm calculating correctly, that's probably about three weeks that my truck won't have a bumper. Those dodges look pretty silly with no bumper on the front -- So I decided not to send it in for warranty coverage on the powder coating. Either way, they offered to take care of it with no questions asked.

Road Armor -- I know you guys read this forum and I'm sure you are watching this thread. I hope that you will reply to this next question which is for you. As you can see, there are a few people here having this problem with the powder coating. Putting that and all warranty issues aside, here is the question: All of our bumpers were powder coated by a third party. It's my understanding that you have just moved this process in-house. Can you explain to us the differences that this is going to make over the workmanship of the third party? The reason I am asking is that some people I work with absolutely love my RA and want more information. It would be beneficial to all to know the answer to this question. Thank you in advance for your reply.

things are getting better. just looked at my bumper and now the paint is coming off the light posts and your not going to believe this one but my road armor sign fell off and i went out and found it. both posts have rusted off and are still in the bumper and broke off at the letters. just for heck of it i drove my last trip backwards (only about and hour ago) and found it on the road only two miles from my house.

Here are the pics I promised. Please forgive the crappy resolution. These are with my camera Phone. I will take more with a high res digital camera over the weekend.

bighammer and rankram expressed my initial thoughts on that bumper exactly! WOW!

How do they ship something like that? I take it that brown won't just drop it off at your house?

It shipped to me LTL carrier thru USF Dugan strapped on a huge pallet and wrapped in celefane and a blanket type material. To open the hood you have 2 latches, one on each side that unlocks. When they are unlocked you just lift the whole over the hood section up. It is hinged in 2 places with grease zirts. It weights about 350 to 380 lbs.

SWithrow - No offense but I didnt want an everyone has it run of the mill bumper. My dealings with RA have been nothing but positive.

Jesus NNelson , what are you going to do - jungle expeditions?? Just curious why you want that huge cage on your truck? Time to get rid of those stock tires and suspension so the rest of the truck is as rugged as the front! Wow. I would have flipped out that they put roadarmor.com on the front of the bumper too.

I hope your ball joints, track bar and steering stabilizer are healthy... .

I also want to know what's up with cage over the hood? Is that extra protection for when you cream a jaywalker they don't come down and dent your hood?

The tube cage on the hood needs an extension cage up in front of the windshield. When the Elephant gets hit, he is going to bounce up, hit the hood cage and come right through the front window.

You are funny!!!

I am laughing my A** off!!!! I think you guys are really funny!!! The truck is only a year old so I dont think I will have any suspension issues. I am also planning on purchasing a KORE suspension system. I have no problem that they put Road Armor on the front of the bumper. The top badge is removeable with 2 nuts holding it on. I thought if I am going to buy something I might as well get the biggest baddest bumper out there. AAAAANNNNNNDDDDDD Walla!!! Here it is! People get the hell out of the way on the highway! I love it!!!!

NNelson, that is one fine looking bumper! The $4k+ price tag will seem as nothing, watching the scumbags in minivans vacate the fastlane in front of you! Question for you, (I'm considering a stealth with the titan II option), did RA powdercoat your bumper to match your truck's paint, and if so, how good is the match?

-Scott-

Powdercoat

Yes they used the red they have for powdercoat. It is a tad off, but only if you have the truck really clean and you get up close to compare can you tell it is off just the slightest bit. I have had many people complement on haw good the powdercoat to paint match is.
