Broke down today and had to get towed to the dealer. We were pulling a horse trailer which they towed separately. Towing guy comes in and said he needed $200 cash. I said for what. He said that Dodge only covers the vehicle and not the trailer. I said $200 for 15 miles!!!! I called customer service and sure enough no coverage. I had Ford before this and there was never an issue with towing the trailer. Started to look at the complete coverage and Dodge provides no "real" roadside assistance other than towing the truck to the nearest dealer. Ford gave key lockout, flat service, lockout, etc. Seems Dodge is pretty cheap on the service side. Oh btw the towing for the truck was only $96. Go figure.

I used them once and they were awesome. Got somebody to come out even when everybody said the weather was too bad. Did not cost me a cent.

That's one reason I keep a Good Sam ERS (Emergency Road Service) policy in effect that covers all our vehicles - including our 5th wheel.

Do you have a website for them Rusty? It looks like I"m going to need the extra coverage now with the Dodge. Never worried about it before.

Good Sam is an RV-oriented group that offers products and services aimed at RVers - including their Emergency Road Service package. I don't know how they would handle your horse trailer scenario. At any rate, HERE is their website. Their ERS program is listed as bullet #2 under Services.

When my girlfriends ford broke down (she was hauling a horse trailer), It took them 4 hours to get there. She was maybe 30 miles from the dealership too! I had to come get the horse trailer for her, I wasn't going to let the horses sit in the heat for that long.

I used Roadside Assistance three times with my 96. Two calls at home, one call while I was in Dallas Texas. Every time, the call was answered on the first ring by a human ready to file my request. Service was provided within one hour every time, and all I had to do was sign the receipt.

When my 7/100 ran out on the 1996, I signed up with AAA for their Plus coverage, which most closely matched what I was getting with DC. When I got the 05 in March, I again got 7/100 Roadside Assistance, but decided to keep AAA as well, just in case.

Although the 6. 0 sucked and broke down five different times I have to say that Ford Roadside Assistance was awesome. There were always there within an hour and no questions asked about hauling the trailer.

:p I use AAA ( triple a ) out here in California and it has the added rv coverage which covers trailers and motorcycles, I think?

I used road side assitance on my 2001 a couple of times. (locked myself out in the middle of nowhere, broke the output shaft on the steering gear) they came within reason everytime. Very good customer service. Did not cost me a dime.

Good Sams Club Emergency Roadside Service is the BEST. All the folks on RV.net recommend them. I joined and when I had a flat on the trailer, they were out in 25 minutes and had me going in no time.

Just a note: You do NOT have to be a member of Good Sams Club to join Good Sams ERS. Just sign up for ERS, which is good if you don't want the features of the RV oriented club.

Also, the ERS is for the entire family, any car, any trailer/RV, not just your truck! Its a good deal in my opinion. ERS will tow your trailer/RV to the nearest service facility. Read over the info on the site and see if it fits your needs. I'm a happy customer.

When my LP died, I called chrysler roadside, and they had a local tow out there in about 30 minutes, he pulled the truck onto his flatbed, I dropped the truck at the dealer, signed his paper, and off he went. Very painless for me.

Good Sam ERS SUCKS. We had a failure on a Sunday afternoon near Columbus Indiana and they said it would be 10 hours to get somebody there. We were only 6 hours from home (Chicago). State police had to call a local guy. In defense Good Sam did pay the charges I submitted.

Have read posts on the FORD sites were the TRAILER was NOT included also. A few posts about the R. V. or horse trailer being left on the side of the road. There all about the same deal. I think it depends also who does the towing etc. Some are jerks some are great.

Its hard to imagine tht ROAD SIDE assistance will leave HALF the rig stranded somewhere. One FORD post their 5ver was LEFT on the EXIT ramp! Took hours to get it moved somewhere safe and secure. Chezz. Most of the maufactures are all the same. Take the employees(Roadside/1800 no help line etc)and swap them at lunch hour from D. C. to Ford or G. M. etc. and other then the name of the product and a few minor odds and ends they'd never miss a beat.

I called every major roadside assistance program in the country yesterday. Not one of them will tow a horse trailer. Said it was liability issues. I called Ford and they said they would haul a trailer if it was hooked to the trailer. Dodge and Chevy both said no on the trailers. They said they would arrange for towing but the customer had to pay for it. I asked what the heck did they expect people to do with these trucks just haul groceries? It's not my fault the truck broke down and I now have a $200 tow bill.

They'll tow it if you pay for it. I've had BOTH towed off the hiway by two differant tow trucks. My truck on a flat bed(to the Dodge dealer) and gooseneck horse trailer with HORSES pulled to Univ. of Tenn. at 3:a. m. 1993 w250 flex plate came apart on I-40? outside of Knoxville.

AAA towed my '99 when the injector pump failed, with the goose and horses still hooked up. They towed it 20 miles to the barn, where we unhooked the trailer and then they put the truck on a flatbed for the final leg to my shop.
