The advanced timing makes it run more efficiently, i. e. cooler, so it does take longer to warm up, and may be a disadvantage with short trips in winter.

RMachida, try advancing it just a little, maybe half a degree (that's about one quarter of the total travel) and see if that works out even better than the stock position. Your conditions are truly arctic.

Unfortunately you need to burn a certain quantity of fuel to heat up 1100 lb of cast iron, 3 gallons of oil, and 6 gallons of coolant, plus a few more in the transmission, t-case an diffs.

By the way, I live in the Pacific nortwest, and wtih our current mid 40's temperatures, I am surprised to see my mileage having climbed to 22+ mpg (even at 70 mph!) from the usual 20. (with a 4x4 6 speed, 03 with 2 deg advanced timing sensor)

Has anybody else in Washington /Oregon noticed a rise in mileage the last couple of weeks? One of my friends got 24 mpg with an 03 4x4 automatic on a longer trip. Could it be they have mistakenly put more BTU than usual in our diesel? We hold the record for second highest diesel prices after Hawaii. (check out flying j prices)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that after I get more of a baseline at the stock setting. Too many things changed when I first installed it. The milelage drop seemed reasonable given the additional drag, going down a moderate hill, it will actually slow to almost a stop just from the drag in the driveline

so my stock sensor may have been damaged by a loose crankshaft pully. (Dealer did not tighten when changing leaking seal) So im thinking of replaceing with a rokk.

Im sure the dealer will put another stock one on but i dont want to take it back to them. Kinda dont trust them to do it right.

Any problems with an 06 with juice/wA2??? I saw several posts about this combo but nothing new, so any updates on the 06's??

2006

I installed one on my 06 week ago, I haven't driven enough yet to know about mpg but my low end is better and smother and it seams to start better. My over head does show about 3/4 of a mpg better but wont know for sure untill I hand calc.

after fillup

Well I didn't run a full tank but wanted to fillup and check before leaving on a trip towing. So I had about 300 miles on the tank I hand calc. at 19. 4 where as before I av. 18. 3 to 18. 8 1/2 town 1/2 freeway. So it seems to have helped a little, now I will see how it does towing.

Just Ordered My Sensor

Was just wondering if any of you guys who have installed the new sensor have found what setting is best. My truck has a cool hose air intake and a fuel pressure box. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

I am only going to add, that after running it for over a year, I removed mine.

Removing mine did not show a decrease in mileage. I'm not sure I ever saw a increase in mileage when I installed... definitely saw a bump in off idle power (leaving out on the clutch), but that was it...

Mine was "ticking" really bad, the reason I removed it. I noticed a slight decrease in valve train noise...

I have had my sensor in my 05 for two years now. Best bang for the buck! Towing mileage with a 9000 lb Travel trailer is now about 13. 5 average. Solo I get over 20 hyway at about 60 mph average. Both of these are measured not from overhead readings. Solo my overhead readings will show over 22 mpg but don't believe that thing. Truck is still like new with only 45 k on it. My old 99 kept getting better mileage as I went over 150 k. As they get loose they get better! have fun!
