i installed the rokktech sensor about 200 miles ago and i see no difference. If anything the mileage seems to have gone down and i see no power difference. Maybe i installed incorrectly, but i dont think so.

Ok -- Been a about six weeks installed. The #1 thing I notice (and appreciate) is that with the 6 speed, while shifting at lower rpm's 1500 to 1800, the slight lag I would feel is gone. The low end is definitely nicer -- FEELS almost as if the turbo is spooling quicker. MPG is slightly increased and idle is smoother.

I'll definitely agree with what JGann said in regards to increase in low end power. Also, at 121k miles, my motor runs much smoother.

I installed the sensor yesterday and drove back to VA from east central Indiana. I did not keep up with fuel mileage since I can make it on less than one tank of fuel. However, driving up took me 7hr 13min and 7hr 11min coming back south, both trips nonstop. I used 1/8th of a tank less fuel driving back after the sensor install, so fuel mileage is up somewhat.

No quantifiable data yet, just fuel gauge results. Its worth the investment.

I dynoed my truck yesterday. The same dyno and operator that I have used twice before. Before I added the rokkteck sensor the truck dynoed 285-287 RWH and after the rokkteck sensor it dyned 301 RWH. :) I can't feel the difference in low end, probably because of the auto. I do notice the boost comes on faster and harder. Just thought I would pass on some data. I feel the sensor was well worth the time and money.

So what is better? Sensor or Tone ring mod?

do they both accomplish the same thing?

I did the tone ring mod the other day, but havent driven the truck enough to see any difference. (I just started it and drove about 3 miles to make sure that what I did wouldn't blow up the motor!) I adjusted the ring by about the width of a tooth. This does the same thing as the modfied sensor, correct?

Yes they do the same thing. I have contemplated doing both, but haven't so far.

The sensor change is easier, but the tone ring mod is "free".

installed one today, only notice a bit more diesel knock, under load at low rpm, cant tell a difference in power, with tst on or off, going on a 500 mile road trip and i will see if i notice anything else...

Installed sensor on Thursday, still getting code, same as before. Only at start up in the morning, nothing after that. Have redone all box connections. Going to take out and reinstall Wednesday when I change another U-JOINT :-{}

I've had mine in for about a month or so. Can't really tell any difference in mileage, but I'm always loaded. Maybe empty it would help. Truck definently sounds different, more like my '01. I use it in conjunction with my Juice/attitude which is almost always on 2/4. It's different, but I don't know if it's bad or not. I figure if these engines are as retarded as people say they are, I'm still less advanced than the older ones with the timing advanced.

24 pages... has anybody read all of them. I gave up around 4-5 and just read the emails.

Installed the sensor last week. Around town I noticed a little more low end power, but not too much. Filled her up and drove for four hours Friday and got the best milage ever out of the truck. The overhead never went below 19. 4 mpg averaging about 72 -73 mph. I haven't hand calculated the milage yet since I haven't refilled it yet, but I've got quite a few more miles on it now out of 3/8 of a tank than I have in the past with 1/2 tank so I know it's doing better. I'll be doing the return run in a few more days and will actually fill up again to hand calculate the milage. My prior best tank was 18. 1 mpg averaging 70 mph. If I had to guess I'd say I'm getting about 2 mpg better now. Will know for sure in a few days. :)

Will the ROKK work with the bully dog power pup? If so what is the best setting on the pup? I have an 03 HO ... ... ...

I did the tone wheel mod with mine and my BDDL on the tow setting stacked with a VA C3. 1 on the middle setting (All my poor stock clutch can handle. ). It seemed a bit much for my combo. I backed the tone wheel back off to about the half way point and all is good again. Engine seemed to struggle a bit with all that advance on top of what the BDDL gives me. Actually lost a little bottom end and MPG until I backed it off. Hope this helps...

100 Proof

I read all the posts. Seems to be worth the money for the low end and probable slight mpg increase. Is it necessary to have the truck jacked up for installation? Thanks, Doc

 truck definitely runs better, not sure about the mileage, runs 600-800 deg in the manifold at 85 mph flat ground to rolling hills, 10-15 psi of boost, tst on 1x1, would i do it again,,,,,,,,,,, yes i would!!!!

Installed Rokktech Sensor

Hey Guys, I Installed my Rokktech Sensor yesterday on my 05. After setting it for the maximum advance and tightening the 5mm allen-head capscrew, it fired right up. It sounded a little smoother idling. About 15 minutes later I drove it to Denver (about 75 miles) and the mileage was about 1 mpg better from the day before. The EGT was about 50-100 degrees cooler. The truck definitely has more low end torque. When we got back from Denver I noticed that there was hardly any soot residue on the exhaust tip. I also noticed that it has a little more of a pinging sound when under a slight load but disappears when I accelerate. I use Power Service which probably explains the "pinging" I'll keep you posted.

Well had to try this, 1st mod btw, put it in yesterday so no mileage feedback just yet but she does feel more peppy, so to speak, however:

Previous to install needle on the temp gauge use to hover just below 200 and I do not recall it varying much, if at all. Post install it still read slighly below 200 but rises quickly to slightly above 200 when leaning on the throttle. Ease up and it drops back below 200. Temp change/range will vary quickly, stop light to stop light. (installed for full 2deg advance, no other mods)

Comments???
