The new me

Being a Father (??)

Wow J, I hope you get back to 100% real soon. So many joint issues! At work, one guy coming back from a hip R&R, another going out. Knees all over the place. A few shoulder jobs too. Just Sunday my wife rolled her ankle on the steps. She'll be starting therapy real soon.

Thanks Wayne. I'll be fine. It just stinks to hurt yourself. I keep trying to remind myself that I'm still young. But, my body is not in agreement with me all the time.

Can you lift your arm all the way up to the front and to the side? I could not either time after wiping out. Pain did diminish but range of motion did not return until after the surgery and therapy for either shoulder.

Lot of muscles involved in a shoulder, I'll tell ya"!!!

Yes, I can lift it all the way up to the front and to the side without restriction or pain. It sounds like there is a bag of marbles cracking against each other in my left shoulder when I do it, but it moves and doesn't hurt. The only direction I have the restriction is to the back. I can't get my wallet out of my pocket for example.

I probably looked like a dog trying to catch it's tail this afternoon when I stopped in the store to buy a couple of sandwiches. I kept spinning in a circle trying to get my wallet out of my left rear pocket. After 2 times around, I finally got it......

About 12 years ago I was going to have my RC scraped until the surgeon told me to try acupuncture first. When she said the recovery time was most of a year, I tried the pin cushion method. Worked for me. I still have occasional pain, but can work through it. She mentioned getting an "old" Chinese Dr. I did.

Dr's appointment is scheduled for Jan 17th. I'll have to schedule an MRI etc before that date.

Pain is much better after a few days. As long as I don't lay on it wrong, it really doesn't bother me too much.

Sorry to hear this - hang in there. I hope you can get through without surgery.

I have genetically inferior connective tissue and cartilage and have had a number of surgeries and joint replacements (and I am not sixty years old yet). My experience with the surgery is that the more diligent I have been with the follow-up the better things have gone subsequently.

Best wishes - looking forward to hearing good news.
