I did a search and couldn't find my issue exactly so here goes:

Yesterday I started the truck and it idled/ran normal. I left the house and about a mile down the road the throttle pedal felt "loose" as in if it had a real weak spring. It wasn't a dead pedal as the truck was functioning fine, it's just pedal feel was different. I tried to convince myself it was my imagination (but I wasn't buying it either).

This morning I fire the truck up and though it lit off immediately, it had a very rough idle. I shut it off and restarted it and it idled normally. Left for work, the pedal felt normal at first, but a mile or two down the road, it had that loose feeling again. The truck seemed to run normal (other than the weird pedal) but when I got to work and put it in park, the rough idle returned.

It's an '02 quad cab 2500, auto with no mods, though the APPS was replaced about 50,000 miles ago. There is currently 217,000 on the clock. I checked the bell crank and the cable appears free and there are no codes thrown.

Thoughts ?

Yeah, it's strange. I've owned this truck since new, so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the norm. Leaving aside the weird pedal, if it were dirty injectors or air in the fuel causing the rough idle I wouldn't expect it to immediately clean up after a re-start.

A friend of mine has a 2002 that ideals weird real high then low etc ,I wonder if the wires going to the throttle is bad ?
