I have an 07 5. 9L and the last couple of times that i have started it,it runs rough at idle and i notice a blue/grey smoke come from the tailpipe. The truck is stock with 77k miles. I changed the fuel filter today but it did not help. Any ideas?

Grey/white smoke is usually a sign of a bad injector... How's your oil level? Check the oil level for higher than normal level, smell it, see if it smells like fuel.

If that checks out normal, you may want to re-torque your cross tubes, and run a tank of fuel with a heavy dose of fuel treatment / Valvoline injector cleaner through it.

You can have an injector return flow test done, to see if it is within specs, that's why I mentioned re-torquing cross tubes first, if that fixes it, then ok.

Let us know,

This doesnt really help you but I have an 05 with 75000 miles doing same thing, white smoke and rough idle on startup for several minutes. Dealer says its normal that its not run hard enough and has carbon builup. what a bunch of B. S!!! I am fairly positive at least one injector is leaking off. Have called chrysler customer service trying to get warranty.

The FCA or fuel control actuator can cause odd idle and driveablility issues also and only costs about $100 if you are forced to guess.
