Just traveled 650 miles scattered over 3 days. 1st day no problem 250mi,2nd day acted like loss fuel pressure 3 times over 220 miles,3rd day ran good for 180 miles then off the interstate to go to the campground stopped at red light started off( if gas engine would be like flooding out) moved slow speed about 300 ft then engine picked up. Wife following called wanting to know problem lots of black smoke. This happened in Wyoming in August had checked, showing 13lbs fp on gauge mech. said had 2 lbs. so changed out fp. No problem 1500 miles home. 2wks over Thanksgiving 1000 mi. no problem. Over 3 days noticed when I pulled away from a stop acted like not getting enough fuel then pick up and ran fine. Have 37000 mi. VP44,5500 mi. on new fuel pump,12900 mi on injectors,Apps and VP 44 has 5500 miles since being checked. Sorry about the length tried to lay out the problem not a mechanic just a CTD lover. Am 650 miles from home and need to get fixed thought if I know a little ahead would know whats going on been asking around for a good diesel mechanic. We are in Punta Gorda Fl if you know of a good shop appreciate heads up.

Need to find a good shop that will check the map sensor properly... not sure if u are in the best area for that. try unplugging the edge i know that it can effect the function of the map sensor. i would unplug it all and plug all original wiring back in and test it out. will smoke more and lose power but u can go back to a power puck or a smarty and they will not effect the map sensor in the same way. however... there is a possibility thet the edge might have damaged the map sensor already but from what u are saying i dont think that is the case.
