For those with RV brake controllers, where have you been mounting the unit? Have a Prodigy to mount and would like some suggestions.

My Prodigy is mounted right below the light switch in my '03. In my '01 is was mounted were the ashtray was...

I mounted my Prodigy below the steering wheel on the right side of the removeable panel. This way I can easily reach the manual brake lever on the unit. :D

Ditto on mounting location. Prodigy is great controller, easy to adjust and smooth operation, I tow a 30 foot Jayco fifth wheel.

Just mounted my Prodigy today. I took out the ashtray and put the standard mount there. I can take it out quickly and replace the ashtray when not using it. PM me if you want a pic of it there. I'll take one tomorrow.

Mounted my Prodigy just like kompressor

On the right side of the steering wheel on the removable panel, easily reached, visible and totally outta the way

Great controller!

We mounted our brake controller (not a prodigy) there, and it must have proved to be "too steep" because it stopped working. Guess next year we will have to upgrade to a "real" controller.

Same here. I think you will like the Prodigy:D .

Prodigy rules!

And here is where mine is. I couldn't mount on the left side because the emergency brake would hit it when I released it, and when I moved it a little to the right my leg hit it when depressing the clutch.

after playing around with a couple of different brands, the best I have found is the brake smart by master brake it uses actual brake line pressure to determine how much energy to send to trailer brakes does not rely on brake pedal movement or actual braking forces applied (inertia type) or the ramped design that applies set amount regardless of gradual slow down or panic stop. No moving parts.

Many bonus features, detects number of axles, read out displays how much brake pressure you are applying in PSI, miswired trailer, trailer wiring disconnect alarm, abilty to handle elctric, air, and hydraulic systems, and many more.

I agree with Eric_77. I pull a trailer for a living and have tried them all. Without a doubt, the Brake Smart is the best, hands down. With your trailer being tied in with your truck brakes, everything stops as one unit. They aren't cheap, but if you want to stop smoothly and safely, they are the best.

EB what do they run. If it stops a 14K 3 axle safely it has to be cheaper than running over something or someone!

Mine cost $350. 00. The guy that sold me the unit said to keep it for a week and run it. If I didn't think it was worth it, he would take it off and put my old one back on. I didn't have to pay until I was sure it was worth it. I went on a 400 mile run the next day and on the way back I called him and told him I'd be by and pay for it as soon as I got back. I still feel the same way.

Break Smart looks terriffic, cept I pull a different trailer everyday. Sorta impractical then. But for my own trailer I think it's the best solution.

Cheers,

Steve J

Brake Smart works on all types of trailers. Electric, electric/ hyd. , for people with airbags, it will control them. Check it out. I don't work for or sell this product. The guy that sold me mine said he just put one on a small Peterbuilt that pulls a 4 axle travel trailer w/air ride and I think he said air brakes.
