Bosch Piezoelectric Diesel Injector's...

Source of PSD Problems!

I imagine that getting a license to drive that is a bit complicated..... ;)

Not to mention having to travel at the mercy of the other RR folks using the line you want to go on... ...

Cool idea, though...

Hey... . that was doing test trips down in Madison WI not too long ago. :) I didnt see it, but I heard that they were pretty sucessful... .

Now if Madison would get its head out of its a$$ and do something about light rail transit... . hehe

As for the RV idea..... it can be driven on roads. :D it will destroy the road... but who cares. Dodges can take the off-road abuse well.

(the road thing has been done before... namely in Canada during the last big icestorm... . locomotives were derailed and run down the street to hook into the local power grids..... I've always wanted a 20 cylinder EMD for a backup generator. )

How did the roads NOT get destroyed while rolling a loco down the street..... ?

I didn't realize that the voltages were compatible between locos and power grids.

i believe the ones that they used as power generators were the old alco locomotives. them be 16 cylinder 4 cycle turbo engines... we have one at our yard sitting on the scrap engine track just incase we have a power outtage. the way the alternator in it is setup allows you to easially attach power jumpers to go online with the power grids. the alternator can output 550 volts to power the grids. .
