I'd like to add 275 injectors but have always been reluctant to do so at the peril of my stock auto trans. I have an EZ now and would like to be able to tow long grades without constantly having to come out of 3 lockup. I have a 3800lb camper in the box and a 4500lb boat in tow. I'm not looking for huge power gains but I'm not prepared to build my transmission unless it's broke. I'm pretty sure that if I add the injectors, I'll need a performance rebuild and probably a larger turbo. Has anyone else run this combo with a stock auto and if so, for how long before you needed a rebuild?

About 7 hours as I recall... And that was when the truck only had 40K on it.

Might start shopping for that trans upgrade before you do the injector swap.

DTT is in your back yard. Drive over and talk with Stephan and Bill. You are not be sorry if you do the transmission upgrade. SNOKING

Face the sad music and go ahead and start saving. My trans had 28k on the rebuild, then came the 275's. 2k miles only later... . no second gear:mad:. And that was with no other fuel mods. Go ahead, get a good transmission and get it over with. The only positive thing to waiting it the wife can't say no to a new transmission if the old one is shot:-laf

Not to disagree with the others as I think you will be pushing the limits. However I had that setup on my 01. 5. I put the ez on at 5k and rv275s on at 70k and rebuilt the transmission at 110k. My transmission didnt need to be rebuilt at that time well at least it was working fine, no problems. I never saw the inside of it as I had a complete rebuild waiting for me so I cant say what condition it was in. I wanted to do it on my time not out somewhere at Joe Schmoe's local super duper transmission shop in BFE. After all the posts about things like this it really seems to be up to the individual transmission. Some go really quick and others hang on for quite some time.

Thanks for the replies guys. For the life of me, I don't know why I post dumb questions when I already know the answer. Denial, I suppose! As DTT is just down the road, I've spoke with Bill and Stephan about it in the past and Bill told me that I could pay him now or I could pay him later, after I break it. Bummer is that I'll have to put up with it for another year or two till I pay down other priorities. Thanks again.
