I went once with a friend who own a boat and enjoys it a lot. I don't know much a bout it. It certainly is a technical hobby. I do know my position on the sailboat, though: "starboard beersman. "

All My Life!!!

Born & raised on Sunfishes then Lasers. Started crewing on the big ones when I was 10. Used to deliver/race boats all over the Great Lakes for fun/money, until I got married (couldn't be gone so much). We've been through a few J-24's. Now, I sail on good friend's J-92, with a JY-15 on the side for the kids.

Great Lakes, freshwater sailing is the best!

Good to hear from you Marco, haven't seen you on the forums much of late. My stepson is getting the sailing bug, he doesn't have a rig yet but is looking. My version of sailing is going down the open water of Toledo Bend/Sam Rayburn in a bass boat. bg.

Wie gehts Rob? :D

Ok, in English now...

Torbole that must be the Circolo Vela Torbole. About an hour trip from my home. This time we have to meet! Shoot me a line when you know where/when you are @ Torbole. BTW very good sailing club. Been there often several years ago. I had my boat @ Torri. One of our favorite trips was in the afternoon north to Torbole or Malcesine. Sleeping there and then the next morning down south with the Perler @ 30+ knots in the back. WOW that WAS pure adrenalin!

It's since '90 that I don't sail on the Garda lake. My boat is now in the Adriatic sea.

This one is new to me... LOL Hmmm yeah that's a position I often use too... :D

boonsur, I've sailed often on the J-24 but never on the bigger J's.

They're rather rare here but from what I've been told are good racers.

My boat is an 37' made by "Jouet". I know, most likely you've never heard about Jouet. In fact it was a small yard but they build excelent sailers. It's been build in 1980 so it's rather dated but I would not change it with any of the mordern boats that they want us to buy today. Almost every winter the "I want a new boat" bug bytes me. I go and visit some new model, nahhh my ol boat is way better than that stuff... What can I do? I love her... Oo. I swear she IS a Lady!

Yup still arround here. Most times I have nothing worth to be said, so I lurk arround. Like my Grandpa said, it's better to be silent and seem stupid than open the mouth and confirm it... .

:)

Only thing I would tell your stepson is that all the good sailors started on small boats.

Ok, I'll stop it now the bandwith of the TDR ain't large enough for what I could say about sailing... LOL

Marco

I have a 1977 Hunter 25 that was given to me. It's a poor neglected boat that needs some TLC, but gradually I'm trying to make it better. I'm pretty new to sailing-- This is my first boat that can't be put on the roof of a car or back of a truck. Considering that, I figured "Clewless" was an appropriate name. :D

EDIT: There's a picture in my readers rigs under old truck.

Given to you???

WOW, I've always cashed out some good money for the boats I've bought.

BTW. Nice pic with the boat on the trailer!

I wish I could tow mine.

Here is a pic of mine.

Gratulazione!

With a "float" like this your son needs to start.

He ought to have sailing intravenous already anyway.

Lookin forward to seein' ya @ Cilcolo Vela Torbole.

Rob,

You know how children are. The ones from Munich like the sea, and the ones that already have a boat in the family prefer the moutains...

My son is a ski fan. .

I just ran across this thread. Nice boat Marco! I won't get long winded here but we used to lease similar boats on Lake Superior. I could tell several stories but I'll just say that the best one includes St. Elmo's fire on the mast.
