WHAT IS THIS(yes I'm hollering)

We pay our money to join in with fellow CTD owners and discuss said. And here is this Ole Coot, between sips of Geritol and prune juice extrolling the powers of a Japan made Deisel! He and Sam would make excellent partners. :D :D

Mac, just joking; but don't get carried away, heah.

We educated Sam...

... he hung out here and found out about killer dowell pins, departed 5th gear nuts, block castings cracking, front end death wobble, cracked exhaust manifolds, cracked cowlings, lying fuel gauges, loose converters, leaking axle seals, cranky clocksprings, right-wing front ends, console hinges, lift pumps, lift pumps, lift pumps, track bars, sloppy steering shafts, odd tach markings, pilot bearings, self extracting exhaust manifold bolts, thin oil pan drain plugs, oil catch bottles, oh, did I mention lift pumps??? I won't even bother to list everything that has been "decontented" from my Brand New 2002 Ram Dually... Ask a repeat owner, there's big and small stuff that's gone "AWOL" all over the truck. :(

I fully agree with Mr. St Laurent's comments.

I hope Mr. Memmolo fully enjoys his nice looking new ride and never experiences one second's worth of trouble with it. :) Have Fun, Gentlemen.

You know, old Sam could of just waited a little bit longer and got him a brand new 3rd gen. Dodge with the new common rail Cummins diesel in it ????????????????????????????????????????

Oh, but wait, did you see that absolutely fascinating TDR article about installing a new piece of carpet?! Totally fantastic, who'd have thought that you can replace the carpet in your truck. And the detail--vacuumed it out, used an exacto knife--simply scintillating... sombody STOP ME!

Yes, what a joke! He said the last four years had been harsh to his carpet, when I read that, I thought about my 94 that got bath towels placed on carpet when it was new and is still spotless today. And do you remember the last four words he ended the article with?

"I love my truck!"

Get him out of the TDR!

Michael

Clarification

For those of you who may not be aware of this, Sam did sell Midnight (his truck), but he still has his Cummins 5. 9 Turbo Diesel, 275 hp in his motorhome.

So he hasn't really abandoned us as some of the posts might make it appear.

Let's let this thead die down soon. Looks to me like this horse has been beaten beyond recongnition.

He may still have his motorhome-but how does this relate to a CTD???? I still don't think he has anything relevant to say anymore in the magazine now that his Ram is gone.

Maybe I should submit a few articles for the mag-then when I want to get rid of the Silver Cloud I'll have a captive audience to flog it to as well. How 'bout 'er fellas? Who wants to see me write an article about my toolboxes? Or my Espar? Remember though-I paid full bore for all that stuff-so there won't be any slant in the reporting! :D

Jason

OH no,

Lookout Motorhome---I'll bet it's next on the auction block. Because he "loves his motorhome" and is going to "keep her a long time".

Defenders of Mr. Memmolo--sorry, but he set himself up for this. Maybe he has political aspirations.

and, how many of us have CTD motorhomes?

TDRAdmin,

Do you know if Sam's column will be removed from the TDR? I don't think he should be writing any more columns since he no longer own a CTD in Dodge. I personally did not find his articles to be of any value. The best articles IMHO are the ones written by the members and not a TV infomercial.

Let him keep writing, we will get first hand info on a duramax ( hopefully only once a year) our lowly competition. :p

I believe Sam started writing for The TDR before he actually owned Midnite. He did maintance service to a Dodge Diesel(not his) on his show Shadetree Mechanic. :p

As I recall he owned a chevy sub that couldn't pull his enclosed car trailer with his chevy show truck in it. Apparently he is a chevy man at heart.  :{ :(

He has a good knowledge about autos in general.

I have only one request when he writes about the chevy duramax that he can not capitalize the "c" or "d" of the above mentioned make/model/engine.

I, like most people, drive the vehicle that serves their purpose best at any given time. Right now it's a Dodge with the CTD, next year it maybe a Chevy or Ford that I drive. I can't understand all these "traitor" comments, he purchased a new truck he didn't start fighting with the taliban. If he has useful information for the TDR membership let him write for the TDR, if he has no useful information then find someone else. He's in the business of marketing his automotive knowledge, it would be pretty stupid of him to limit his personal experience to one manufacture.

I couldn't believe the episode of Two Guy's Garage ... But what really got my goat is when they ran down the Cummins powered Dodge. They were pointing out the obvious weak link with the automatic transmissions, but Sam came across fairly snotty about the whole thing... but Sam just lost a long time viewer of his shows.

You folks are missing the point. It's not BECAUSE he bought a DingoMaxi, it's HOW he's done it.

According to reports, he

1. Puts down the Dodge on TV while praising the Chivvie.

2. Used our site to sell his "special" truck--while dogging the Dodge and praising the Chebbie on TV.

3. All the while he professes his enduring love and admiration for his CTD pick-up truck.

4. He never said, "Sorry guys, but... " So, many of us (especially those that WATCHED the show) feel a bit smacked in the face.

A simple note/reply/resignation/public service announcement OR SOMETHING from Mr. Memmolo would probably shut most of us up.

Otherwise it just looks like he woke up one moring and said "GEE I love Diddlemax, pizz on the Dodge--it sucked anyway"

I have no problem with his new truck, but I am upset with the way he alienated us Cummins-driving folks.

I can just imagine the ear to ear grin some of you guys would have if he was a Duramax guy that sold it to get a Cummins powered ram. He would be getting praises from all around.

Chevy Advertising

Some of you guys (the older n' dirt ones) probably remember the Chebby ad on TV in the early '70's involving a 3/4 ton 4X4 pulling a Boeing 747 on a runway. It was faked too! After tearing up three trucks and not moving an inch, they fired up the jet to get the final shot.

This trick was done at the old Great Southwest Airport in Ft. Worth, TX. The airport used to be just south of where D/FW is now, and was used by American for training flights after it closed to commercial flights!

I live by the d max factory

Just down the road they build the D Max . The rejection rate of engines making it to be installed into trucks is very high , according to someone who works there. Chevy is also stockpiling engines for quick changeouts should warranty issues arise. They want to study failed engines to know what caused the failure.

I like isusu diesels . My BOBCAT has one that should last several thousand hours to overhaul.

The reason I trust the Isusu diesel is that it is PROVEN in this application. I also trust it because Isusu knows that if they build a junk motor that BOBCAT will drop them like a hot potato.

The ISUSU/CHEVY diesel is built at Moraine Engine Plant close to Dayton Ohio. WHAT KIND OF TRACK RECORD DO THEY HAVE??? They have built three generations of Diesels that no one would buy!! When G. M. starts ORDERING [not manufactiring] Isusu motors built to industrial standards like BOBCAT and like the CUMMINS Dodge. I just might try one. I got ten years of decent service out of my last Chevy , But it had a 350 gasser which is also a proven performer [at least for me]

When my buddies ask me wht i switched from chevy to dodge, I say Dodge -- What Dodge ?? I bought a CUMMINS!! --they threw the truck in for freeOo. Oo. Oo.
