Hi all, The family and I went to Lancaster Sat. and on the way back we stopped in Gettysburg for some ice cream. We were standing along side the rotary when a new Ford F-350 pulled up to go through the intersection. Beautiful truck, Black, 4-door, Diesel 4X4 dually pulling a very large 5th. wheel horse trailer. Or "hersy" trailer as my little girl calls them. I was standing there gauking at it trying to figure out why this truck sounded different than the other ford diesels that I have been around. Then I seen it on the front fender. It had a new CUMMINS badge on it. Just like the ones on the new Dodge trucks. Are they putting the Cummins in the new Fords now? Beind a loyal Ford man, I bought the Dodge for the legendary Cummins Engine, but if they are putting it in the new Fords I may be swayed back to the other side when new truck time rolls around.

Has anyone else seen a ford with a new Cummins or was this some kind of aftermarket conversion?

F*rd offers the Cummins in the F550 and up. It is pretty hard to tell the difference between the F350 and F550 if it has a utiility body or flat bed.

This truck had the standard dually bed and the aluminum 5 spoke wheels that come on the ford.

could maybe be an option for the 03's?

You have to go up to the F650 to get the Cummins in a Ford, it's not available in the 550 and under. The guy you saw must have done an engine swap. D-C has an exclusive agreement with Cummins for 1 ton and smaller trucks. You can get information on Ford's larger trucks at http://www.commtruck.ford.com .

The 450's and 550's are available with normal dually pickup beds... I've seen them that way as dealer options. I dont think the factory does it however. But the give away is that the 450's and 550's sit so much higher than 350's. Its those 19" wheels.



That must have been one wealthy fellow to buy a new Ford then turn around and say "install a new ISB while your at it". Maybe he was so tired of 6. 0 problems he swapped it out. Ya know... it would probably be cheaper to replace the 6. 0 with a Cummins considering the loss you'd take trading in a brand new truck.



I suppose with enough money... any Ford dealership would be glad to install a new Cummins in their truck... along with those fender badges.

Supposidly there is a guy in northern Montana that does Cummins conversions into Fords. Some place called North Shore or North Lake or some such like that. Illflem would probably know about that.
