Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) serpentine belt

I have a 97' 2500 diesel. The Belt doesn't want to stay on all the way. It comes off the pulley by one or two groves and rubs against the the tension pulley bracket. Could the idler pulley be bad?mnk1999@msn.com

Check the idler pulley... I have heard that when they wear. . it will cause the belt to jump off. .

I just got a H-D idler from Practical Solutions. $54. 00 shipped.

My old one aint messed up that I know of anyway. I'm replacing it as a preventitave measure while I'm tabbing the KDP. I'm also getting a Goodyear Gatorback belt. $26. 00.

It has 85K miles, so it's cheap insurance.
