Service DEF System, See Dealer

just got the same thing yesterday but i also had a battery saver mode message too ,i have a service appointment Friday but it,s 60 miles away and i dont know if i can drive that far or will the limp mode kick in ? do you know how far you can drive with the cel on for the def service.

Was it really cold when you got the messages? The battery message is usually when the PCM is trying to make an adjustment for battery charging when temps are really low.

yes is was in the low teens and during warm up it was cycling the lights ,you could see them dim and brighten. a minute or so later it started to idle faster too. the truck was plugged in over night but had been sitting unplugged for a few days in cold weather

Do you know the lights dimming is caused by the intake heater grid cycling?

Dont worry about the battery saver its normal especially in the cold as it takes alot of juice to start the truck and it will save power to recharged them. The DEF message is complicated I had it come on 6 times before it tripped the check engine light and the dealer couldn't do anything about it until it did. Turned out to be a loose pin on a plug. When I got it I panicked how long before the final countdown. Never happened but I've been told you will definitely know when it does.

the DEF was a bad pump had only 24k on it ,dealer replaced free of charge and even gave me a free loaner for the week ,i also purchased a battery tender to keep things fresh between trips

My Son Just bought a used 2015 , CTD 2500 4x4 . Any body got this message before? There is no engine light, and no stored messages. It comes on during driving and after a while goes back off by itself.
The truck has 70k kilometres or around 50k miles....

2018 Ram 3500 Turbo diesel 30k miles
On 4/16/19
Filled up DEF tank. 100 miles later Message appears
SERVICE DEF SEE DEALER
Countdown begins 150
At 40 check engine like.
I go to dealer. P207 code. DEF QUALITY
they reset. I’m on my way.
30 miles later message appears again.
Countdown begins 40 miles to go max speed 5MPG
I call dealer. He says you’re gonna need a new tank.
I ask if I can clean the tank. He INSISTS I need new tank. Back order 2 weeks. Common issue.
INSTEAD i go under truck. Unplug all plugs related to DEF near DEF tank. Clean them.
I unhook the DEF hose that goes into tank. ( the thicker one ) siphon the old def out. ( bought a siphon pump. Didn’t need the pump. All I did was stick the hose the cane with the pump inside the tank and watched the DEF pour out. So any hose might suffice. )
Connected everything back.
Refilled with PEAK DEF 2.5 gallons. Didn’t fill all the way.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Exact same scenario ,code P207, check engine light etc. Except they pretty much did what you did , pulled the nozzle cleaned it, checked the DEF, and it was okay. Left the DEF in there cleared the codes etc.

What I have done ever since, I run it until the DEF gauge is in the red zone, then jut 2.5 gallons ,no more. Was told when you fill them it triggers a systems check, and some I guess are a bit touchy. No problems since

Had message service DEF system see dealer and countdown as well. Tried to clear code, but did not clear.
Have truck at dealer they called tonight and said the DEF heater is bad.....
Anyone know if the heater and pump are one assembly? All I found is the pump for $ 2,675.00 CAN
That is Ram list price.....Any aftermarket available?
