Just thought I'd fill everyone in on the TSB #14-003-09REV. A dealing with the Severe Duty Filtration Kit.
I've run across a few people that have had problems with getting water in their fuel and the Water In Fuel light never came on only to have the fuel system damaged to the tune of over $15,000 to repair. There are a few threds on the 6. 7 engine forum dealing with this. As most of you know I've been running BioDiesel (B100 in the summer and B50 winter months) almost from day one with my 05 with over 100000 mi on the clock with out any major problems, aside from many pluged filters, and yes I have used both Dodge and Baldwin filters. While many have expressed their feelings about the cost of the Filter kit's cost (about $750) and even mentioned that there are other fuel pump and filter kits on the market as far as I can tell none of the systems that I have seen ( I'm sure I'm going to be blasted for saying that) offer a fuel heater with the filter or the ability to keep the filter warm after the electric heater finishes it's warm up cycle. And up here in the North East there are times that you really need to keep the filter warm to prevent fuel GELLING. The Dodge kit does. I'm not a big fan of the "IN THE TANK" fuel pump it has proven to be up to the task for a STOCK ENGINE. The Kit includes a new BIODIESEL compatable fuel pump and all the wiring harnesses along with the fuel lines and connections. I'm guessing that the fuel pump's pressure reg is set a bit higher as it is now being asked to push the fuel through two filtersrather than one.
I'll be installing the kit on my next day off, which if you know my new work hours may be sometime next year... I'll try to take some Photos and let everyone here know how it all works out. But from what I see that the kit has the price is not that bad... . Oh, I should add that the truck's computer needs to be reflashed after the kit is installed so the computer knows to turn on the Fuel heater and to read the addtional water in fuel sensor. MOre Details when I get done turning the wrench... .
