Here's another option that I resorted to since this kit wasn't available in 2007:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com...03-2007/179153-added-fuel-heater-gdp-kit.html

The only thing I would do differently now is build some sort of box or shield around the filters as they get a lot of road spray. However, they have never let me down in terms of freezing or leaks since this installation.

Good looking install. Did you bypass the OE heater under the hood when you did that? The Mopar kit uses a relay to signal the ignition is on, then the heater power comes direct from the battery. The OEM heater is 300w as well.

AD64ID: My understanding is that you now have the additional water filtratration and the stock pump can still deliver adequate fuel to the CP3 with 25, 5 and 2 micron filters sequentially in the flow path? Further, you are now thinking of replacing the 25 micron with all or parts of a Dodge kit so the filter is heated? Do you encounter gelled fuel in the 25 micron?

My OE LP is doing fine thru my current 20,5,2 micron setup. Even with 100hp over stock I don't dip down below about 4 psi.

What I am doing is adding a fuel heater to the first f/w separator and a WIF sensor. I have to go from the 20um filter I am using to a 25um filter to get the integrated WIF sensor, but thats okay.

I did have my fuel gel on me once last year, but that was more my fault. B20 and -8 don't go well together. I have been colder than that with winterized #2 and had no issues. But it got me thinking, and I want the heater and WIF sensor for insurance.

The setup I am going with is a little more money, but wiring harness is designed for the pickup so its an easy install and has the WIF sensor. I got the Severe Duty Filtration kit for pretty cheap (compared to list) and really won't have all that much into it once I sell what I don't need.

Thanks for the reply. Can you identify the supplier for the Mopar kit? My foggy brain tells me that there were two kits mentioned in previous posts. Is the 05 kit that you have compatible with an 06 and, if so, can you give me the part #?

Thanks, Steve Whalen

Because the kit was discontinued they are very hard to find, only 3 left (as of last week) in the Dodge inventory. There are other folks that have them and are selling them for a good price. If your on CF send a PM to kruisecontrol I beleive he has some kits he would sell.

Good looking install. Did you bypass the OE heater under the hood when you did that?

Thanks! I eliminated the under-hood filter set-up years ago. I also just taped up and sealed the OEM WIF plug.

Before this set-up I actually had a RACOR setup. While their products are more compact than Fleetguard for seemingly the same flow and filtration ratings, I couldn't find the electrical plugs to adapt the OEM harnesses to the RACOR harnesses.

Anyway, at the time, I didn't want to run fuel from the OEM filter canister back to the frame rail and back to the CP3 to get the incremental filtration steps. I also had to relocate the engine mounted APPS when I installed the second CP3 so I had no other options to install 2 micron filtration under-hood like you did while still maintaining user-friendly access for preventative maintenance.

I have been toying with the idea of building a set-up on the frame rail with FW separator plus 2 filters with heaters.

JStieger: I assume you basically have a work-around of the Dodge kit that provided heat to the remote filter and is less expensive all in all? How long did it take to install and on the 1/10 scal, level of difficulty?

What I have bypasses the OEM set-up; why I did that is detailed above. As far as cost goes, I am not sure what the Mopar kit costs. My installation took about a 1/2 day, but I probably spent about 2 weeks researching parts and communicating with Fleetguard. With Fleetguard, a lot of things aren't on the web so visiting a Fleetguard vendor and going through their paper references yields a lot of valuable information. The level of installation difficulty is about a 3 on 1/10 scale: basic hand tools, but requires knowledge of OEM electrical systems (tracing wires in field versus reading electrical schematics in shop manual).

Gotcha, I left my OE filter in place and have it between my 20um f/w sep and my true 2um filter. I have no plans to delete the OE canister, it doesn't hinder flow, and has a heater and WIF sensor.

Do you have your 20 um f/w separator under suction? I. e. , still have a lift pump on the OEM filter canister?

Help

 I have a new filter and pump kit (fuel lines m. i. a. ) from Ebay. The installation instructions are missing. Does any one have the Dodge/Mopar instructions they can coppy and post, or email me? I have a 2007 5. 9 34gal tank. I would think the instructions are the same for all the trucks.

I have the fuel lines and banjo fittings I could sell you for pretty cheap if you want them, and I could copy scan the instructions, but not until next week.

The stuff I have is for a 35 gal tank, but I am not sure of what the differences are.

If you can give me a day or two I have the Instructions I can scan them in and email them to you. I just have to find my shop under all the snow.

Thanks EDankievitch and AH64ID. I awaite your return with fish bated breath? But riddle me this; What truck is this filter mounting bracket for?

That's probably for the C&C trucks.

Is the mounting area on the 2500? Also, I bought the vent line kit for $43. 00. It is NOT worth the money. Hoses, Y connector and vent that looks like the rear axle vent. Oh, and NO INSTRUCTIONS as to where to mount the vent cap end. Thank you Dodge / Mopar.

How much $ for the lines and quick couplers. Banjo fittings were included with the "kit?" I got.

Yes, the frame is the same from a 2500 hemi thru a 3500 DRW CTD.

Yeah I have heard that about the vent kit, more than one peeved consumer out there.

$20 plus shipping reasonable?
