Shame on Me!!!! I bought at Lithia, Grants Pass, Oregon

I was going to buy a 2004 Cummins at Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho, but thought I would give the local "5 Star" dealer a chance to meet the price. They came within $1,000 and I signed. I told them I wanted the Chrysler 7 year 100k zero deductable warranty. They slipped some aftermarket warranty company into the contract. I caught it and said it must be changed to the chrysler warranty. Fine and dandy. A month later, I get my new warranty card in the mail. $100 deductable!!! I called Lithia and got the basic runaround. They said it must have been "keyed in wrong and admitted I "was" to get the warranty I paid for. Here is the kicker. They couldnt guaranty that I would get the correct warranty. I say B. S. All they have to do is call their rep and change it and I could then be a happy customer. I guess I will see on Monday if they attempt to do ANYTHING> If not, I just also received my customer survey card for the 5 Star rating. . Yes, I will balst them if they dont keep their word. Next time, I wont be weak. Im going back to Dave Smith. . This just wasnt worth it! And to think... I PAID CASH!

Damn, that makes you want to do what has been "forbidden" by the TDR Gods, remove the "d" from the word "dealer" and replace it with two consecutive letters from just aft of the center of the alphabet.

I SAY WE ALL RISE UP, GET SOME DAMN PITCHFORKS, AND GO DOWN THERE AND STRING THE BAST@#$S UP!!!... . And hearing the proclamation, the masses go wild with pent up anger which has laid dormant since the last time they took a several hundred dollar fanny pounding by their local "dealer. "

Spontaneously, A thunderous cry erupts from the incensed crowd, TOOOO TTTHHHHEEE DEEEALLLER!!!!!!

PBJohnson2

DC Service Contracts always had a contract application form that you had to sign. What did you sign, and what does it say? You should have a copy of all your documents.

As for paying cash, for the dealer, every deal is a cash deal. They get their money from you or the bank, so how you pay does not have anything to do with how they treat you.

They're actually happier (IMO) if you finance be cause they get a kickback (for lack of the PC term) from the bank on the interest you'll pay.

The paper I signed for the warranty was on Lithias letter head with alot of Dodge and Chrysler Logos on it. I assumed it was the correct paperwork as it was what I had asked for and told I was buying. They claim that it was an error on the "office girl's" part but couldnt guaranty that they could fix it. Monday I WILL be at the dealer expecting to get this resolved or leaving with a check in my hand where I will return home, with my tail between my legs and give Dave Smith a call and buy my warranty over the phone.

Im not happy at all. . This I feel was done with intent and they hopes that I didn't catch it. . I guess we will see Monday how they react to the call I made to Chrysler regarding their 5 Star status.

   :D

Another thing to watch out for--BANKS

''Twenty Twenty'' or some news show showed how some dealers ''bait and switch'' some paperwowk. Their advice was come in there with your own financing, ect. Car dealers will sometimes slip stuff in, change the interest rate AFTER you sign, or just forge your name on add ons.

When I shopped at two local banks, one was offering a really good rate that the other bank simply would not meet. The only smart thing I did that day was to get a MONTHLY PAYMENT quote frome the ''high priced'' bank-- I knew that the same quoted rates often vary in monthly payments depending on the bank and how they figure them

When all the signing of multiple documents was occurring at the ''better rate bank'' the monthly payment was higher than the high price bank. They tacked on a credit life insurance policy that was of absolutely no worth to me and hidden in the pile of papers they have you sign.

I made them remove that provision and after chewing out the loan officer ,went into the lobby and quite publicly cashed out my savings account. The high priced bank and I established a relationship that now includes six real estate properties that will let me retire early.

It'$ all about the $$$$$...

Dealers make a profit on the extended warranty, and the aftermarket warranty frequently offers a heftier profit margin,as well as a volume-based kickback.

A DC warranty form has NO mention of the dealer name, it is a form right from DC. The dealer CAN fix this by filling out the RIGHT form, and sending in the $$$. If I were you, I would demand the cash back and buy the warranty from a reputable dealer of your choice, rather than take the chance of another "error by the office girls... "

Find the contract that you signed and read it. You have 30 days from date of purchase to get a full refund after the 30 days they start prorating it. You will probaly have to do it your self.

You don`t have to go through any dealer to get the Chrysler Service Contract, just call 1-800-521-9922. They`ll tell about their different contracts and prices. A lot easier than dealing with the dealer. No mark-up and no bull.

I got my dealer to discount the 7/100 $100 dedutable warranty by $340 if I purchased it with the truck. I wrote the service contract number from the DC website on the contract, so that can't can't slip something else in on the deal.

I just received a phone call from Lithia and it seems that the problem is being taken care of asap. I guess we will see within the next week or so. . Will keep all informed:confused:

PBJohnson, That's the reason I have bought my last 4 trucks from Dave Smith. I have had 0 problems with them, and they beat the s--t out of the local dealers. Bob

I finally received the 7 year 100k zero deduct Chrysler warranty. After 3 trys, Lithia finally got it right. They still want me to fill out my 5 star rating card. Im waiting to see if their service manager ever calls me back about the 16 missing rubber plugs that go behind the masking tape on the rocker pannels.

3 Years ago while on my way back from Alaska to Texsas my 2000 CDT trans BROKE. My 5* Dealer in Texas recomended Lithia!

Had my truck towed in Sat morning, they had to ordered a new trans and tork converter. and had me out by 11 AM Wed morning!!

I Only have GOOD things to say about them!
