Ctd

I plan on shipping my 2002 Dodge CTD and camper to Europe in April 2008 to travel around in. Was wondering what the parts and service was like there for my truck. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't have any direct experience with a CTD in Europe, but I was stationed in Germany for 6 years.

I can tell you that parts & service for any American vehicle was dismal, at best. Even getting parts for a US-spec VW was hard.

The Cummins isn't a popular engine over here. Fuel, Fuel additives and oil are very expensive. If you are military you can get Diesel fuel coupons on base and they are a lot cheaper. I am in the Air Force and I order all of my parts/filters from the states. If you plan on going all over the place, I would recommend you join ADAC. The European version of AAA but better.

For parts for your guys trucks I am able to ship overseas, for you service guys on smaller parts I can ship them for 0. 00 when things get bigger then we can talk.

I do alot of business over seas, and just try to help out when I can, from stock parts to performance stuff. I know how hard it can be to get things. If you do need any parts from Cummins, or the dealer I can help you out. I don't really want to have this as an ad for parts... ... ... . but it amazes me how some places will not ship over, guess it is all the paperwork involved. See you guys later, Jim.

Sounds like a fun trip. Been thinking of doing something similar after retirement. Do you know about what is the shipping bill for that rig?

Very old Thread, but, around 4000.-$ for both ways. Best is shipping from Halifax Canada.

Everyone can do this nowadays.

Happy Holidays.

A true thread from the dead. I wonder if Sheldon has pics from his trip?
