I have a question regarding shocks for my 98 12 Valve, Q Cab. I bought the truck brand new and it has about 86,000 miles on it now. I use the truck mainly to tow a 5er. The shocks seem fine, no extra bounce and the truck steers and rides great. My question is, shouldn't it be about time for new shocks? Isn't it a bit unusual for shocks to last 10 years? Any ideas the best replacement for the shocks at the best value.

Thanks for the information

IMO, if they're not leaking and feel alright, keep running them. I changed my shocks just a little bit ago (140k), they just started to feel bouncy. They were the originals, stamped 97.

02 at 60 k miles, thought mine were ok,( no leaks,etc. )
Until I installed new Bilstiens, BIG improvement...

Cheap ( thrifty ) shocks won't last... worse than OEM.

I'm just now replacing mine, 290K. Yes, it's overdue. I don't tow much, generally running empty. I'm going with the Bilstien 5100's.
