Side by Side Comparison between 2G and 3G

Has anybody gathered information to do a good comparison between the trucks?



Comfort - Are the 3G seats more ergonomically correct? Roominess?



Durability - How much better is the 48RE then the 47RE? Is it more durable? Are the shocks any better?



Reliability - Any known problems such as the 2G lift pumps, tracking bar, brakes. . etc



Power - How is the power curve of the 3g vs the 24 valve. . etc



Also, how are the headlamps as far as brightness to the 2G, cause we all know that the non sport headlamps in the 2G's are really dim.



I am honestly debating on trading up my 2000 for a new 2003/4. Though with the 2003/4 still being in their first year of the truck, I'm still very hesitant about buying a 1st generation model.

From what I have read and seen there is almost nothing mechanical on the 3G that is not bigger and stronger than the 2G. For example, the brakes, the automatic transmission, the transfer case, the frame, the axles (actual axle axle diameter is larger) 11. 5 vs. Dana, the limited slip (gear, no clutches).

I looked at all three extended cabs and the Dodge is best by far, it's not a crew cab but it's not being sold as one, the truck in short bed extended cab form is the same size as GM and ford which is a resonable size vehicle wihtout being to big for parking at the mall in a normal space. If I really wanted a crew cab I would have bought a Ford. All the other stuff like seat comfort, looks, funtionality of the controls is all opinion, some might love it others hate it, I personaly think it's a pretty nice package.

The truck rides like a truck, it's a nice tight solid ride. My mileage averages about 16 or so, and I am very happy with that, after all it's a 7K pound automatic 4X4, if I was really concerned about mileage I would have bought something else.
