mwilson, you have too many toys. Have you considered talking to someone about that ?:)

You are not the first person to suggest that I might benefit from some therapy.......:D

In reality I could never have this stuff if I had to pay someone for every little repair. Armed with a pretty good mechanical background, a rollaway full of tools, some false courage, the internet and Amazon there is no boundary I won't try to cross....:D

Hell, last month I had the washing machine torn down for a bearing roll.....made a bearing installer out of nuts, flatwashers and redi-rod....it's happily washing my clothes now....

If I can't fix the majority of any machine without intervention or assistance from a dealer I will not buy it in the first place....

A lot of special tools for that outdrive, also pull the boots
from exhausts elbows and check the butterfly's to make sure it won't allow water to get into the cylinders. Please don't ask why I know this.

Mike, I hope you enjoy your new toy! Can you double tow in MAINE, than you can take the boat and trailer on your vacations. I have seen this many times out west and now I am seeing this around here also.

I saw a sign when we were in South Haven MI, that could apply to all of your toys! The sign read: Camping is were you spend a future to live like a homeless person! This can also apply to your boat as will.

Do you want to win points with the misses? You could name the boat after her!

My co-worker's boat is a Manta Ray 189 SF. This is NOT his boat, just some pics I found of the same model on line. His is the red color. From what I've seen it is in good shape. He had it winterized last fall and he had a bimini top put on it this spring. It has the 4.3L V-6 Mercruiser.

He wants $4500.

Mike,
You sure have all the toys and no time to really enjoy all, out in California you need to be license to operate a boat, another way to collect from us poor working stiff! Enjoy!

HPS, I never knew that? Is that a new Cali thing, I left there about 8 years ago, was there for 15+ never had a license to run my boat. Never got checked either.

Sorry, I just had to do it. Came across this on Instagram.
I would have done the same thing as Mike did. Only thing is I couldn't afford a slip for it. Last time I checked, they were running $110/ ft near me. Dragging it around is too much work. When I want it, it has to be ready to go.

For those that boat in California waters, including the Pacific Ocean and you can thank Jerry Brown for the shaft, signed SB941 will be faze in over several years will have to get CA Boater license.

Boater required training and licensing is taking place in many places. Hopefully is saves lives. Many buy and operate a boat with no knowledge and/or experience and became a Coast Guard statistic. Having trailing will also lower insurance rates. Having operated boats for almost 70 years I agree with this step. Boats out on water are very unforgiving when things go wrong.

I agree to a certain degree, the Atlantic Ocean off of the coast of Maine can change conditions in the blink of an eye and will happily drown you if you don't know what you are doing.

As far as normal inland lakes you have to screw up pretty bad but the bigger lakes can take you out just as quick as the Atlantic.
These guys should have known better, four of them in a 12' boat on a big lake. All it takes is for the wind to come up....

I don't think Coast Guard certification would be a bad thing, but a license seems excessive at least for Maine..

And notice in the article how many victims DID NOT have a life vest on......

Even if you are a fantastic swimmer the cold water will get you without a life vest on. Mid-June and that lake temperature was in the mid 50's. The ice had only been out for just about a month and with very few warm days that water is frigin' cold....
