Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Buy ammo, Buy guns

Need help with Picasa picture program

No arguements here, what are pro's and cons? I have heard rave reviews for both, the glock wins no beauty contests but thats not what having a weapon for protection is about is it? I would rather have a . 45 but I may go with a 9mm since it will be easier for my wife to handle. Thoughts on both brands and models please...

got both glock 19 and sig p220 just like the sig better there both good guns just depends which one feels better in your hand, i always liked the feel of a single stack mag better than the double stacks

I just bought a S&W M&P45 and have a deposit on a Glock model 21.

I like the power and the cost for a box of 100 rounds is $30.

My 2cents

Major difference IIRC is the Sig has a full alloy frame and is therefore much stronger, ie, if you drop it on a concrete floor it is much more likely to be in one workable piece when you pick it up. The Glock is all polymer except for the barrel and slide and a few miscellaneous pieces. Go with the Sig. They are made in Exeter, NH by the way.

I've seen several Glock demonstrations and it's an extremely well built gun. While visiting a large So. Cal. Police Dept. I watched as the Glock representative took a fully auto machine pistol with a 30 round stick and he blazed away. He did this several times and then he took the extremely hot weapon and did the unthinkable. He dipped it into a 5 gallon bucket of water. The crackling was aweful and all I could think was, he's just destroying that gun. He repeated that process several times while I watched and the Glock never failed and it never malfunctioned. I am not recommending that anyone here repeat this test as it just might destroy your gun and or injure or kill you. I certainly will not repeat the test with any of my own guns.

I do believe that glock builds a very durable gun.

I have shot a few Glocks-9mm, 40 and 45 and didn't get a comfortable feeling with any of them. They are well built and reliable, just not for me. I have a Sig SP2340 and absolutely love it. For me, it is very well balanced and feels perfect in my hand. I've shot a couple thousands rounds thru it with zero problems. My wife and I have many hand guns and the Sig is her favorite. She's pretty small, 5' and right around 100#'s, and controls this gun very well.

I have Glocks 19 & 26 (9mm), Sig P220 (. 45 ACP), and selection of Colt 1911's. They're all excellent and each have their charms. If I could only have one, it would be the Glock 19 for its size, capacity, fit, and performance. However, the Sig P220 fits my hand the best. Too bad it's harder to conceal. The Glock 26 is my primary carry gun simply because of its size. Shoot 'em if you can, but at least fondle them. If it doesn't feel right, forget it.

Sig or Glock

Whatever feels best in your hand. That will be the weapon you are most comfortable shooting with...

For instance. Among others, I have a Glock 23 and a Sig P226. The sig does not feel balanced in my hand and it is not my first choice for enjoyable shooting.

The Glock, feels awesome in my hand and consequently, it gets the nod for concealed carry and is the first one I pick up to target shoot...

They are both high quality weapons.

In my honest oppinion tupperware is for the Kitchen not safty yes they make a good gun but I have found I like the other brands better .

I have had my Sigs a while all made in W. Germeny. Two 45 220's and a 380 230 stainless and all shoot well, never a problem. Like said above go shoot and see which you like most. Took me a long time to accept the plastic Glocks, but they have proven themself and are good weapons. The best thing about Glock is they are dishwasher safe... ;)

i've seen glocks chucked out of airplanes have a deuce and half parked on it on various surfaces and still fire and one guy the orignial glock abuse guy with over 500k rounds though it was known to tow the thing down the road behind the car as a deminstration, i don't think the tupperware part is a problem :D i like my 31 but don't have plans on doing any of that crap to it but it's neat to know it could take it

IMO If you have the time and $$$ to properly train with it, either will serve you well.

If you dont, the Glock gets the nod. There isnt any manual safety to "forget" at an in oppertune time. :-laf It's the closest thing to a mag fed revolver.

If youre talkin Sig in DAO, it's a toss up.

I have a P228 and it's a GREAT little gun. :D

I carry a Sig every day. Formally carried the H&K P7M8. Both 9mm. I also have a Glock 23 (. 40 cal) I loved the H&K. 9mm is not my favorite round due to the fact that more than one collegue has scored fatal shots only to have the badguy continue to return fire until he bleeds out. The Glock is a very operator simple weapon. The Sig more complicated. Point and shoot vs. many operations. The Sigs decocking lever, slide release and mag release all clutter the grip and slide. When I shot the H&K it felt like an extension of me. It was a very natural feeling. Again a very user simple weapon. Grip cocker, hammerless, point and shoot. When I shoot the Sig I am proficient but I find myself having to seriously concentrate on the first round. Otherwise I push that first round into the belly. DA vs. SA. Like others have said, shoot them both if you can. 9mm is cheap to feed other rounds may pack more shock factor. Plincking or Punishing.

Good Luck.

The Glock will out last the Sig 2 or 3 to one. Glock warranty is by far superior to Sig.

I like my trigger to be the same every time unless you get a DAK Sig then the Glock wins for me there too.

The Sigs are really great guns, but the Glocks just have more going for them.

I own some of each, I have no problem with putting one down and picking up the other, except for the trigger.

If you like the feel of either brand then the Glock is a better and cheaper way to go.

I highly doubt anyone here would "wear out" a pistol unless it was being used in competitive shooting.

My brother is a competitive shooter, and 20K rds a year in a pistol isnt much for him.

Very few typical users wear out a pistol. For that, you need a MEU(SOC). :D

As for advantages/disadvantages: rust, Glock wins hands down. The tenifer metal carbonitriding treatment (similar to Melonite) makes the gun virtually rustproof, moreso than stainless (as in it stains less than chrome steel). SIG, not so much. I've owned both, and a SIG will rust very easily in a day's time.

Like its been said, buy what fits your hand the best.

Personally Glocks fit me best. My glock is a 29, 10mm sub-compact. My wife had a Glock 23, 40 S&W compact, but didn't shoot it well, now she carries a S&W sigma as she shoots it much better...

In the debate of caliber I wouldn't get a 9mm, IMHO they are not a great round. If your worried about your wife shooting get a 40 S&W.
