My e-mailed notifications of a new reply to a thread of which I am subscribed used to be accessed by clicking on the link that was forwarded to me with in the e-mail. I can no longer directly access the new replies from this link.
That was a default setting. It was set so that if a single image was attached that it was shown in the thread, if more than one was attached then it showed the links. I've changed it so that they should all show now.
I am aware of the errors that were generated a few minutes ago. I was working on a bug in the code for the readers rigs and photopost link that was generating database errors on some old threads where the user accounts didn't exist any more and I had a typo in the code. Sorry for any inconvenience.
When I search the forum I get a lot of hits but all treads are reported to have 0 answers, which I believe is not true. Something connected with the upgrade?
What are you searching on - all the options you change from the default. I just did a couple searches and they all came up with the proper number of replies.
Well, before I posted the the above I tried everything and got 0 replies in all threads no matter what I did, and now I can't reproduce it, it just works as it should. Maybe I did something wrong, sorry to bother you.
See # 38 By freezing up, I mean that the browser does not respond and has to be closed. TDR bookmark is the only one that does this, out of about seventy. Any bookmark with TDR.com in it does not work! I don't understand why, since the upgrade I can not log on. Oh well, I guess I'm a victim of progress. I guess I'll have to find a different form, since all the others I have bookmarked STILL WORK. Thank you, I'll miss this site.
When I sign in , it used to tell me how many NEW posts since I was last on. This no longer shows up. I like the feature and hope it returns. thanks, jac
Steve, My son came over and fixed Netscape. He said he deleted all the cookies and now it works. I wonder how it got corrupted during the upgrade? It helps to have someone who is good with computers around. I also liked the New post feature, with how many, now it just says view new posts. Are you able to include the quantity again?
The view posts since last login is still there but the counts for the number of new posts and new threads is not. This new version of vBulletin has a very poor search engine resource wise - searches REALLY slave down the server and those two queries on the front page seemed to push it over the edge. I've now moved all searches over to the slave server so that searches don't slow down the site other than other people doing searches - that's helped immensely. There's a modification in the works (still in beta) for a different search engine that looks like it will work 1000 times better than the built in one but there are still some problems with it. Once those problems are fixed then I'll put that in place and I should be able to bring back those counts on the front page at that point. The previous version we were running had a different search engine on it too but noone's rewritten that one for the new version yet.
So in short, I will continue to monitor the situation but in the short term I don't think those counts will be coming back on the front page.
I was able to replicate this and I'll get to work on it. Until I get a fix what you can do is click on the thread that you want to remove the subscription from and once you are in the thread you can pull down the thread tools menu and click on unsubscribe - that works. I'll let you know when I can get it fixed.
Glad to hear you got it fixed. I'd have to say that it's just a coincedence that the problem came up at the same time as the upgrade because it shouldn't have affected it at all. You are the only person who has had this problem thus far.
