How do I post my truck for sale?

Member it trouble.

Steve, probably not related to the forum sw but the KORE add on the front page walks all over the drop down for the discussions. Example I can not click on the 2nd get stuff as the KORE add is in front of the drop down...

A few questions for you guys so I can narrow down the possibilities:

Does this happen on every post or on specific posts?

If it's on specific posts which ones so I can look at it and get an idea of what's causing your problem.

Do the posts in question have pictures in the posts?

What resolution are you running your screen at? (You can check that by going to start->control panel->display and then click on the settings tab.

Let me know those things and we'll figure it out.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I thought it was doing it on all the posts, my resolution is 1024 x 768. It is doing it on a post w/pics, look at post titled "towed today with new 988-AAs" and, "Tuning by rail pressure". Thanks for all your hard work.

Yes, it's unrelated. The KORE ad is a flash file and currently browsers render flash files in front of everything else. We currently have several advertisers that are using flash files. I'm continuing to look for solutions but thus far none has materialized. If you refresh you'll most likely get another ad that will not be a flash file (though not impossible) which will allow the full menu to be accessed.

Your PC is not allowing Javascript to run. I wrote a new routine for resizing pictures with this new version that uses Javascript to function. The old board the routine I had for resizing pictures had a problem with being VERY slow - especially if a server was unavailable. This Javascript based solution was the best option - there are many parts of the forums that use javascript to operate as well and you will miss out on a lot of the features. First check any internet security software you have running on your machine and see if it's restricting javascript - if it is it should have a way to exempt sites from that and allow javascript to those sites - add the address you use to get to the TDR to that list. If you don't find anything there then you can check in your browser security settings and make sure that javascript isn't disabled there.

Ok Oh Computer/Super Moderator Guru Steve. .

Not one having anything computer on my resume, explain to me why this newest update runs at dial up speeds in IE7 but when I use my Opera browser it runs at normal speeds?. You click on a post in my IE7 and walk away, make a sandwhich and then return to the page loading finally. If you do the same in the Opera browser it loads as fast as you can click it. There are no other forums I use that do this, any ideas?.

Plus...

New software,New Readers Rigs better,,,nope

No New colors, same old drab look, nothing eye appealing and a readers rig area which will be worse than the old one for finding anything. So add in no spell chek for those of us who are not politically correct, what did we gain?. I am at a loss here... ... . Adny

I am getting a pop-up that covers the forum list when it is opened. This pop-up cannot be canceled and it prevents access to the forums. It is not being trapped by my pop-up blocker. What is causing this?

Steve, noticed tonight the margin on the main page is over 1/3 of the way..... also, on the reply page, most of the lil' smiley guys are MIA...

Could you take a screen shot of this and email it to me - also let me know what browser and version you are running. All the smilies show up for me on the reply screen and I haven't heard from anyone else that they don't.

I'll load IE7 on my PC and give it a try Andy. Thus far this is the first I've heard of any slow performance from IE7. I installed IE7 and promptly uninstalled it a week later because of how slow it ran compared to IE6. I'll let you know what I find when I get it installed and try it - probably later today.

Thus far you have been the only person who has complained about the new photo gallery software at all - all the other comments received have been positive. If you'll give it a chance I think you'll find that it's just as easy as the old software if not more so. Try this - click on member galleries and you'll see a box in the upper right with a go next to it - type in my username there and click on go, you'll get straight to my album (as opposed to having to scroll down the list of 1000's of names on the old software). You can also sort the list of photos in any way you want by clicking on the sort by drop down on any of the category screens. Pictures can also be categorized so that if you want to look at say 3rd gen trucks only you can do that as well.

As to what did we gain - number #1 is better security and support. How mad would you be with me if say next week we got attacked by a hacker and all of the posts were deleted? I would then have to restore from a backup - losing a days posts - and have the site down for a week or two to get the new version up and running and then we'd be where we are now except that none of the modifications that have been made for the site for us would have been in place. There are quite a few improvements to the software in the interface and I've received many comments from users on that they like them (and the new software).

Spell check will be coming back, just give me some time on that. As to colors you do know that you have the choice of 10 different color schemes don't you? The overall look is the same on all of them but the background changes. Keep in mind that any time we make a major change to the overall look of the forums we get a good percentage of users that complain because they were "used" to the old look, so major changes to the overall look of the forums are considered very carefully before we take that plunge.

If the banners bother you or your pc is not up to the task of rendering the banners I have a suggestion.

If you use firefox, consider adding the simple to add plugin 'adblockplus'. With very little effort you can remove most banners from your browsing experience...

Steve, go ahead and delete this if this suggestion is a problem for anyone...

I just installed IE7 on one of my PC's and I loaded https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166129 which has a lot of graphics in it to test and here is how long it took for them to load:

IE7 - 20 seconds

Firefox - 17 seconds

and the first page of this thread took:

IE7 - 6 seconds

Firefox - 6 seconds

Those times are in line with the performance difference I usually see between firefox and IE. What kind of anti-spyware and anti-virus software are you running? Have you done a recent scan for spyware or virus's? My guess would be that you have some spyware on your PC that is slowing down the TDR - that could happen on this site as opposed to others you are using because of a particular type of code that we may be using that they aren't that activates the spyware. I suggest using http://www.spysweeper.com for anti-spyware, it's the best I've found. If that doesn't help you might try clearing your temporary files and cookies by pulling down the tools menu to internet options and then click the delete button.

Steve. .

I use Spybot S&D,Ad-Aware SE Professional,CWSHredder and Norton Anti-Spy which comes along with the Yahoo toolbar now for making sure no crap unwanted slips in. The system is set for daily cleans with Clean Cache 3. 0 and has Crap Cleaner also run on it to make sure the cookies and internet files are gone. One could understand that problems like those you mention are possible but I have this problem with this site only out of all the web forum boards I use. I also use Avast Anti Virus and it updates as it needs each day.

Listen,I know what your telling me and do understand it,but,my system is clean all were redone today as I knew this would be brought up,why it certainly can not be the TDR software,no,its my little old heap here,WRONG. Again,it still remains with the same problem and was a ton worse this afternoon both here and at a friend of mines where he has the same issue.

BTW. .

While I can also say there may be something to using a readers rig area where you do not have to resize your own photos, the mess trying to find someone shots in one when it gets all loaded up with photos I guess you will have to see for yourself. Just don't believe me,go look through the others who have been using this software already and then tell me how easy it is to find what you want.

Security we can all understand,no one can put a price on it and no one will quibble one bit about it. However, dull the same dull drab look have to saty around forever or at some point will we ever get some new colors or looks??..... Andy

Andy, I don't know what to tell you. I installed IE7 today specifically to search for your problem and I've been browsing on the site using it all night with no issues with speed using it. Is it happening to you on every single page or only on specific ones? 1 out of 10, 5 out of 10, etc? When you do specific things - like search, etc? Try to give me more details. I truly want to try to solve your problem. If it's working fine speed wise with Opera then it's not the connection between you and the site. There must be some other difference going on if I can browse with IE7 here with no problems. You and your friend are the first I have heard of any complaints with speed since the first couple days the software was installed - which was resolved since then. I just went over the server logs today and don't have any indication of a high server load today at all on any of the 4 servers. One thing that will go slow right now is searches when you are searching for terms and I am keeping my eyes open for a fix for that as I've mentioned in this thread.

On the photo gallery did you try any of the things I suggested? I don't understand how it could be hard to find a persons pictures when you can enter their name and get directly to their photos and only their photos - or you can click under their username in the forums and get straight there as well. Maybe I'm missing something. I did try many large photopost sites to see how the software would work and was able to get to exactly what I was looking for quickly - much quicker and easier than with our reader's rigs gallery.

Please give me more information on your speed issue like I asked above - how often, on all pages or only some, specific features, etc. Also try to give me some specific lengths of time - like 40 seconds to load this thread . . . . . It will help me to narrow it down.

Is anyone else running IE7 that is either having performance problems with the site or performing normally for you?

Not sure if this is related to the upgrades but recently this website and each page loads EXTREMELY SLOW. Like slow enough for me to go shave and brush my teeth before the each page has loaded slow. What gives?

What browser and version are you using and what other internet related software - internet security suites, etc? Does it happen on every single page or just specific ones? How about the front page of the site - https://www.turbodieselregister.com ? That's what Andy's complaining about and you, Andy, and his friend are the only people who have mentioned this up to this point. I'm trying to narrow it down.
