Off Roading Anybody Use Air Lockers

Competition lots of up grades and no go!!

Looking for street trucks to put together a class at a farm show in Perris, CA. We will go with MLM type rules, same as used at the High Desert Diesel Roundup. We need some Dodge guys out there to give me a hand. You guys left me all alone to struggle with the Dmax's last time. Should be laid back and fun - county fair going on too. Go here for details -

Wish I could make it Craig, but I am lifting the truck up some more this weekend and my son is having surgery the next weekend, then I have a weekend of house work to get done the weekend of the pull. Got lots of concrete and landscaping to do that weekend. Plus I need a clutch, I don't think my Centerforce would last even 100ft. It still slips in 5th gear at times, but seems to be holding in the lower gears under power.

I probably won't be able to make it to another pull until next year. Got lots of mods to accomplish before I drag the sled again. Wish I could be there to help you show that Cummins has the real power but not with the clutch I have now.

I may pull. I live about 10 miles from there. I am a little leary thought. I just got my 97 fixed after twisting off a billet input shaft. :{ Had that not happen I would for sure. I regretted not pulling at the high desert one.

Hey Greg, a clutch would be nice. And to do it right, you really need a big dual disc pulling clutch. You will just have to pick a lower gear and ease in to it until the clutch hooks. I will give you specifics when we get out there.

Craig.

Hey T,

Best to register ASAP. We are trying show the promoter that we are serious about having a class. There is a link to fuzzydiceracing above where you can print a registration form and fax it in. The more guys that pre register, the more that will pre register if you know what I mean. This is our chance to make a little showing in southern Cal so that we can get involved in more of these pulls. How many guys do you figure you have that will hook to the sled?

Craig

I will hook, but I am unsure about all my friends, we have five trucks between us, but all of them have reasons not to pull, clutches mainly being the reason. Do they have to register too just to go?

No reason to register for anything if they aren't hooking. Just show up. Go to the above link and send in your registration form if you are pulling.

Craig,

Well I guess well see how it holds. I have been running at 350-400 hp for some time. Lots of high speed 4wd corners flatfooted. I know it is nothing like pulling with the sled but if I smoke my clutch, I will just have to upgrade!!!!

Greg

Hey Greg,

If you can get it rolling with 3rd gear low range with those 37's, be happy with that. Just ease in to the throttle until you get the clutch to bite, once its hooked, then give it hell. What gears do you have? The mistake people make with single disk clutches is they try to rev the motor to much and slip it out - NO NO. Need a pulling dual disk to do that. I have a 6 speed with an Enterprise pulling clutch - I use 5th gear low, put the smoke pedal to the mat and just ease the clutch out as slow as I have to in order to stay on top of it. A stock clutch won't last one pull doing that, not to mention you would never get the sled moving. You can manage a pull with the stocker, just have to be smart. I had a few pulls on my stock clutch.

Craig

Thats good. The 4. 10 will help your chances with the 37's. The name of the game is to limit your travel in the rear of your truck if possible. If you can't, no big deal, but it helps. Minimum amount of travel in this class is 2" - the closer you can get to that the better. Some come up with some pretty crude ways, others make nice susp. stops to go in place of the bump stops. Something to think about.

Craig

Craig,

WIth the custom T-rex in the rear. I think I make almost 14" of travel. Maybe only 12" but I could bind it down with some rachet straps if that would help.
