Competition The Best???

I just had a thought while reading another thread regarding a pilot/throwout bearing...

Have any of you sled pulling folks had an abnormal amount of failures or issues with your pilot/throwout bearings due to slipping the clutch at the starting line @ high RPM all the time?

Perhaps this is where the Kevlar jobbie comes into play...

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks for the input, Bob. :D

The lack of response in this (or any thread... ) can indicate a few things - arranged in the order of most likely to least likely reason:

1) People know something and ain't talking...

2) People don't know...

3) The original issue hasn't been much of a problem and nobody's talking...

4) The knowing ignore Holeshots posts 95% of the time, becasue they have other things to do, and most of his posts are NONSENSE!!!

I have not had any failures, or seen abnormal wear.

However, I would assume, your logic is correct, the high rpm for sustained periods of disenagament would have to invite premature throwout bearing wear. I just haven't hit that point yet.

The '98 will get hooked to a sled at some point in its life... but I doubt it will be competitive... especially if J. R. rides with me. :-laf

As usual, I'm trying to plan ahead. The old NV-4500 is going to get treated to some shafts and someone's dual-disk clutch... probably not this year, though.

Matt - ain't afraid of a noisy clutch
