Slide in bedliner recomendation

Can't afford the spray-in at this time. Looking for the highest quality slide-in bedliner? What would be a good price?

With my experience with slide in bedliners is no liner is better than a slide in. If you do use a slide in be sure to get the rubber liner to go under it. The liner may save your bed floor paint anyway. I had a Dodge liner in a 96 gasser once with the tailgate section that was suppose to protect the top of the tailgate. When I removed the slide in and the tailgate section I had a lot of shiny sheetmetal where the paint was rubbed off. Luckily I am in Arizona (read no rust). My advice is Save for a spray in.

I'm with Dave. If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it at all. My last truck had a drop in liner when I bought it. I never took it out, but paint was worn off where I could see. It seem like that is just the opposite of what you really want.

Wait and save

I've had experience with both. The latest truck had one from the factory so I left it intend

ing to get a spray in. It was in 10 months and I had a lot of debris all the way to the cab and no more paint shiny spots when I pulled it out for a line-x. The line-x cost $375. I think thats around $ 100 more than a drop in. I think it was $270 on the sticker.

I had a drop in an '84 Ford I scapped with. After 4-5 years it was trashed along with the bed. Hell the one in my '02(I aint sayin what)was warping already.

Ive had a Rhino in the last one,this time I went Line-x and like it .

So you guys are suggesting that I go ahead and use the bed without a liner and save for the linex spray-in. If I scratch up the paint in the bed of the truck no big deal since it will be covered by the linex spray-in. I plan on going with polished plate rail caps. Would you get the linex over the rails and then cover with the rail caps or just linex under the rail, since I will have rail caps? Thanks for the replys. I can't talk to my wife about this stuff, she just gives me a vacant look and walks away

I would definately save for the Line x it is the way to go. As for the rails, I got mine under the rails with the intent to get a Cab but have since scraped that idea so I'm thinking of getting the rails sprayed. I would asked the Line X dealer what he though, the one I dealt with was a real good guy and I dont think that they would steer u wrong. It seems to me though that the rail caps u want to use might not fit with the line x under it. Mine is about 1/8 - 3/16inch think.



Oh and I know what u mean about the wife. Mine told me I stunk today after installing my FP guage. I told her it was my new colgne, #2 Diesel and then I gave her a big hug, she hasnt talk to me since about noon, LOL, may not be bad thing though.

Go with Linex or Rhino or what ever spray in liner you get the best deal on. The bed liners in my experience hav e done more harm than good asfar as protecting the bed. I have even heard them refered to as (bed sanders) That was my experience. Had a bed liner in and when I took it out the paint in my bed looked like it had been sanded down. Like everyone says save your money and get the spray in liner.

I have had a bedliner in my truck since 1992 - big mistake. What I have recently done is placed a layer of 1/8" foam flooring insulation on the truck bed and other rub points and placed the bedliner on top. Get a spray-in liner, in the interim use a sheet of plywood for protection.

Like everyone has already stated, wait and save. You will spend almost as much for a drop in, and most of them are poor quality, slippery, and they will eventually crack and wear your paint. As for the spray in, under the rail, I've seen very few over the rail and they look real cheesy. And once it is on it is not coming off. With rail caps at least when they get damaged or ugly you can change them. Go with Rhino or Line X. Also shop around and find a good installer that makes a difference on the quality of the product, In my opinion... ... ... ... . Good Luck... ... ... .

That was a good game, glad to see they won. I got a quote from the Line-X dealer in Rogers Ark. for $410 for under the rail. Thought I would take it to the Dealer here in Springfield and see if he could beat it Nothing wrong with a little competition. At this price I will save and go with the Line-X. If I spent $150 to $200 on a good slide in I've spent almost half of what the Line-X would cost.

I used the do it yourself "Herculiner. " About $100 for an 8' bed and less than 4 hours of work. I am very satisfied with the results (especially for the price. ) -fjk I believe they also have instructions posted on thier website too.
