Has anyone went to smaller brakes in the rear so they can run a 16'' (or 15'') wheel in back. . I want to run a large slick on my 06, and the large brakes are holding me back. . Does anyone know the best way for me to get ahold of a set of smaller disc brakes to run the smallest diameter wheel possible on the rear?

I'm just gonna throw this out there, throw it right back if you don't like it. If you are just drag racing your truck maybe you could remove the rear brakes and cap the lines. I hear the front's do most of the work anyways.

the fronts do about 70% of the work... . but I'd hate to be in some accident and find the car that hit me had modified brakes..... I'd own everything he had..... every last asset... think about what I just said... .

I was thinking the same thing until I saw the sig. Sounds like a dedicated drag only 3rd gen 1/2 ton 12 valve...

If you BOMB your brakes and go on the road, you better know what you're doing and go UP not down. ;)

I have another totally off the wall idea, so bear with me. I assume you still have the factory rear axle or else you wouldn't have brake issues, but what about building a different axle? Say a built Dana 60? Then you would have virtually unlimited brake options. I'm not a drag racer, so let me know if you don't think it would handle the power, though I've seen alot of high HP gassers use them, but most aren't near the torque of a Cummins. But, if you are looking to go a cheaper route, then this would probably not be an option.

And on a side note, a 60 would be lighter too...

Put the stock discs in a lathe and cut them down a half inch or so. (may need to rebalance them too)

Modify the caliper attachment, or use a smaller caliper from a car, and make the pads smaller too.
