Just trying to understand

Well Bob and Marco, I went for a test drive with the new software and it seems that something has been done with transmission line pressure. It seems to be more line pressure when shifting from 1 to 2 to 3.

Waiting for Marco to chime in.

CRiggan,

So is your statement above a complaint or do you like the way it shifted with the new download,... . is it a firmer shift now? Tks.

It's labeled as "Stock Torque Management"

I think he meant which limits the torque the least amount... which would be the moderate program...

Bodie -

Stock TQ Mgmt is within the limits of the original TQ spec ...

Mild TQ Mgmt eliminates part of the stock TQ Mgmt limits

Moderate TQ Mgmt eliminates more (the most this far) of the stock TQ Mgmt

and supposedly there will be a

Wild TQ Mgmt which really let's it loose... (this has not yet been released)

Marco/Bob - please correct me if I misunderstand these, but I think this is accurate...

Hope this helps (and is accurate!)...

I like the way the number 2 file shifts, I am going back to the dealership to grab the DRB III and go find out what is going on with governor pressure. This file number 2 is a lotttt better than before but 1 and 2 and 3 are still not spaced out enough for the 05 IMO.

Thanks Jason

I updated my Smarty to the latest software today and loaded it into my truck. After the update was done and I started the truck my abs light was on. I checked for codes, and there were none, but to be safe I returned it to stock. Is there a problem with the new software or the download transfer? Has this happened to anyone else?

Sometimes, and I mean once in every 10 times I download a different smarty program into my ECM, I will get that abs light. I usually drive the truck for a few miles and it will go away. Sometimes you can go back and download the exact same program again and it will fix that abs light.

Just d/l the new Moderate w/reduced timing software. Already took her out for a little test drive. It's perfect. Loaded SW5 w/my TST on 3/1 and she's a rocket. Exactly what I was looking for. Heck of a lot of power instantlyk, in cab adjustability with the TST and no timing rattle... . Marco, you're the man! Thanks for all your hard work and putting up with our wild requests.

What TST timing setting are you running? Before the anti-rattle version with the 90 HP injectors I had to use use 3* auto advance plus Smarty timing program to have just a hair hint of rattle.

The anti-rattle version is being flashed onto the Smarty as I type this...

yeah, this happens to me too, usually at the higher levels of the Smarty

Did you find out anything with the DRBIII??

Bob, Marco, I and i'm sure many others are wondering what is different about the newest smarty cr 03-05. 5 software downloads? I'm downloading now and will try out.

I downloaded the newest smarty cr 03-05. 5 software and have been running it for a couple of days (since Thursday). I run level 3, mild torque management with a stock 4. 5 6 speed. Is it just me or have others noticed a slight decrease in power & higher EGT (100 - 150 range) ?

I second what chris. curley said. I did see a increase in egt's, about 100* but didn't notice any loss in power. I am also running sw#3 w/ mild torque management. Also I did notice that my 48re seems to shift better than before. In regards to the abs light that was stated above, every time I download a new program I have the abs light come on, and stay on until I drive a couple hundred feet then it goes off. Never had any codes regarding this.

After loading the new software and driving around for a couple of days; I've noticed my egt's are running higher than before. I'd say about 150* or so. I've been running the stock TQ management. I'm considering going back to the previous version?

Bob, Marco, just noticed another update Dec. 8, 2006 (instead of 12/06/06). Would this resolve my issues with power & egt ? Is anyone else running Dec. 8, 2006

with or without these issues ?

Hi gang,

let's see where do I start?...

After the update was done and I started the truck my abs light was on.

Yes, that can happen from time to time. We've tried to investigate that thing extensively... What SEEMS to happen is that after an update the ABS & ECM are out of sinc when they come back alive on the bus. Thus the ABS light... Why that happens and the cure for it is still a :confused::confused:

Anyway, in the case the ABS light remains on: read the DTC's. Even if none present erase the codes, voilà... .

I think the main question is what has changed in the new softwares? Well, let me start saying what should NOT have changed; of course the power!!!

I have not changed the power curves in any way! I'll need to investigate to see why several of you are now seeing less power! OPS???

What I've changed is the timing . I would not even call it reduced timing. What I've changed is rather WHEN the timing is raised. At higher engine temps to cure the cold rattle just as an example... .
Yet, that change should have nothing to do with the power per se. A lot of guys have tested the beta version of that software. NONE EVER has reported higher EGT's or less power. I didn't see it either with my truck... .

Let me check the softwares, my first thought is that maybe Marco ( Me ) did something wrong...

See, with all the different software versions we offer today ( Thats 1400+ different softwares! ) some "mistake" in a "few" is not unlikely.

Would you please help me to rule out the " human " factor as a cause for the lack of power? In order to not have to check all 1400+ softwares, could you please tell me "your" SW revision #?

With Smarty it's easy.
1) Plug in Smarty with key#5 pressed. Release key #5 after a couple seconds that Smarty has powered on.
2) Wait for Smarty's main menu screen [ 1) ECM... 2)Data read ]
Press: #1 ( as if you wanted to update the ECM ) then again # 1.

Smarty will display a number with a couple letters at the end. That's the SW revison # that's in the ECM. That number combined with the TM version and software level ( key# on Smarty ) allows me to define exactly which software is in your ECM and investigate...

THANKS!

Marco

Smarty Updates

Marco,

It feels like there is a little less power than before when driving in traffic.

SW version AK

TM version 304A

Software level #3

Thanks for your work, Tom

Marco,

SW revison 20325251AK that's in the ECM, runnning level 3, mild torque management (V:3. 09B, D:2. 04A) with a stock 4. 5 6 speed. I know that the EGT are higher because of the guage, HP change is more difficult to determine.

Thanks,

Chris
