So, just spent a couple of hrs. searching here for some answers. Just got a Smarty Jr. second hand. How should I set it up for starters? My 03 has upgraded 60hp injectors, AFE intake, AFE 4" turbo back. Run 33" tires. Don't know what diff gearing, it also has the auto. I spend 90% of the time city driving, empty.
Thanks.

Thanks.

First go to the ABS function and correct for the tire size.
depends on wht you are looking for? I'd just set it on performance and leave all the defaults.
Go from there.
oh, sticker on glovebox door should have the diff gearing.

If you have a stock automatic then you are already pushing it with the 60hp injectors. I don't know what series JR you have but my JR has 40-70-100 hp settings. My recommendations is to use the lowest setting and set the timing up and the torque on the lower setting.

As Motorhead mentioned you need to have some trans mods done, or tell us about what you have done.

Until we know what the trans has done it's hard to make a recommendation.

as far as I know it still has the original transmission at 184,000mi. I bought the truck from a co-worker but he did not know if it has the original auto or not. He thought that it had the 47(?) series according to the vin but the trans filter and gasket did not fit so he got one for the 48 and that fit.

Production date:
12/31/02 and earlier = 47re
01/01/03 and later = 48re

Either filter should fit 47 or 48, he must have been given a filter and gasket for a completely different trans...

I am waiting for some input on this also HD. I have a Jr. on the way and i am all stock 06 mega.

My '06 Megacab is stock. I have run my Jr. on performance mostly from about 2007. Truck has done quite well. No trans, or engine trouble. This sight let me prevent rubbing hole in transmition line. My line had wore part way through. I applied JB weld, then more JB weld with a fiber reinforced hose split and slipped over at the rub point. I did have the heat/air directional vain break and replaced under wnty. New ball joints required around 80k miles. Have near 120k on truck now. I have very seldom nailed go pedal from a stop when empty. I sometimes towe light during family trips (5klbs max). Very satisfied with truck.

Ok, production date 09-02. So, I guess 47re transmission? So, how are these rebuilt better than the stock 47re? Same parts and pieces as for the 48re? Or are there no upgrades for this transmission? Haven't really found anything referring to building a 47re.

I found this thread using search. In the interest of beating the dead horse, how do I set my new smarty jr to the modt timing and least torque management? Right now Im running the performance setting with all defaults and it runs surprisingly clean even with my 50hp injectors. I have a 6spd with upgraded clutch so no concerns there. Like so many others, Im confused on timing and torque settings. To compound the confusion, smarty changed the numbering system with one of the more recent updates so when I internet search, I cant always tell if the info is applicable to 5.14 revision.

SW3 defaults is what you are looking for. No need to back timing off on a Jr with 50's, but if you want to them Timing 3 is what you want.

Thanks. The torque settings are the most confusing to me. If I understand correctly, #2 is the default setting which has the least torque management or in other words most throttle response.

Also let me say for those that may read this in the future, the performance setting with defaults even with larger than stock injectors is not smokey at all unless you try. I'm amazed.

I find that true on my truck to, altho I have stock injectors, it's so clean. At least in high elevation(4500'), but in low elevation it'll roll the coal till the turbo lights then it cleans right up.
