I go back and forth between SW2 and SW3, but mostly use SW2. I have played with TQ and TM in both setting arenas, but truthfully have found that SW2 using defaults gets me the best fuel economy and power towing. I am still messing with different setting in SW3 to see which get me the best fuel economy. When I first started using SW3, with defaults as settings, I saw really good fuel economy, and the power was good to go too. I lost a little fuel economy messing with TQ, so I went back to the default for TQ, now I am playing with TM. Problem is, we just went to winter fuel, and that messes with fuel economy big time. I guess I will resume my playing in the spring when we are off winter fuel, although, maybe I need to get it figured out on both fuels??

Thanks.
I have not yet tried SW2. Have a tank of fuel to go on SW3 (w/ TM at 2 and TQ at default and POD at 99) before I get the mileage results on that setting. We are in the middle of yet another blizzard here, so I won't be going out in the dually for a while.
Gettin' REAL tired of this weather!

With the six speed I find that the throttle is too touchy with tq on default.

I have found a 2mpg increase in mileage towing 10K if I use economy setting.

If I use towing EGT and power is good but no mileage increase.

Have not tried towing on Perf.

I think towing on 2 or 3 with tq on default plays havoc with the carrier bearing on rear shaft ( this in lots of stop/go instances with 7500lb rolling shop). auto truck not as subject to this. .

Well, I just finished 2 tanks of fuel and have some mileage figures.
With the Smarty Jr set on SW3 (Performance), Timing on 2, Torque on Default and POD on 99 here is what I got:
Tank 1, a combo of in town and highway gave me 14. 7mpg;
Tank 2, almost all highway at 70mph gave me 15. 4mpg.
In both examples I was running empty, no towing or load, just the truck itself.
I am now going to try the exact same settings, only with Smarty Jr. set on SW2 (Tow).
With the weather not being very cooperative, it may take me a few weeks to run 2 tanks of fuel, but I will report back what I find out.

Well I did it! I bit the bullet and bought the smarty Jr and replaced the bullydog. So far I've only run two tanks through the truck and so far the mileage is about the same with both, running the same settings. 17. 9 and 18. 5 with the smarty. While running the bullydog I got typically around 19. 0 but we too have switch to winter blend so these numbers are off a little I'm sure. The biggest difference is that where the bullydog came on strong at higher RPM, the smarty seems to be there at all setting and it's not as "seat of the pants" as the bullydog. I haven't tried the SW3 but I never ran the bullydog on the third setting either. The biggest problem I have with both is that neither are supported with a Mac computer!
