There are 2 high idle options

1 The automatic idle up to 1000-1100 rpm for warm up.

2 The manual idle up "Automatic trans" that the cruise is used to idle it up to a desired rpm. Turn cruise on then hit "SET" then hit "Accell" to set to the desired rpm.

Mine has both activated.

Both are seperate options that both need to be turned on seperately in the ecm.

Does the smarty activate them both or just the automatic idle up feature?

I am about to fall off the fence and order 1 for my newly acquired 05. Waiting for feed back from a friend who just installed his a couple weeks ago.

Bob and RWendlick, thanks for the reply. This sounds like what I am looking for. How about the throttle sensitivity? I am looking for something to greatly enhance throttle response from off the line as well as passing/merging situations.

If you are like I was back in 99 when I bought my first diesel truck I thought gezz this thing sucks compared to the response of a gas vehicle. Now the diesel would tow more than the gasser so I lived with it.

The smarty Jr. and Sr. makes your diesel truck response to throttle as good or better than the throttle response of a gasser. You also get the added benefit of greatly improved towing over a gasser along with better fuel economy.

I just ordered a Smarty JR from Wagner. Should I disconnect my Quadzilla XZT non adjustable module, or leave it in place when I download the Smarty?

Absolutely without question disconnect any chip, box, or module before downloading any programmer.

You could possibly run your XZT after you download your smarty. Timing might be too much but the only way to tell would be to try it and listen for too much timing rattle.

You could always send your XZT back to quadzilla power and have them put in the stacking tune. quadzilla will do it for free you just have pay shipping both ways. This would be pressure only for the XZT. I hear the combination of the smarty and a pressure module is unbeleavable.

Got my SmartyJR yesterday from Rip in OR. I drove down to PDX and avg 17. 6, filling up at FlyingJ in Troutdale before heading back to Tacoma... went straight to FJ in Fife and filled her after 152 miles and got 18. 1 BBBUUUTTTT ;>))) I couldn't keep my foot out of it as I was having so much FUN with the throttle response on I-5 that it cannot be a fair evalution and the miles were to low to get a good feel for it. This is 40HP and and wonder what the next two steps will be like???? Can't wait to load the camper and see what happens there.

As I came home up I-5 I was cruising at 70 to 75, When a little rice rocket or Bemmer started zooming up to pass I eased into it and they couldn't belelive it. I even left at hot zoomer Honda standing at a light in PDX... just think a Dually doing all this... sooo COOLL!!!

BUY one folks before the sale goes off!! Don't sit on the fence. GIT ER DUN!!!!!

Only issue I see but may not be related, the fule gague seems to be stuck and not dropping on the way back and it really flies over fast when the key is turned on... I will go back to Stock and redo the load in the morning! Anyone else noticed this? Merry Chridstmas to me and all of you who got and get a SJR!! PJ

got my smarty jr on monday from Bob glad i was the winner of the 100grand put it in the bank today. the only problem is now the truck is faster than the race car and thats on economy there goes getting 50,000 on rear tires

Tried the 70hp setting today....WOW!! STOCK clutch holds!

I have been running the 40hp setting since I bought my Smarty JR. I noticed that it smoked some at low power. Seemed to fuel extra at low RPM. Today before my wife and I went into town to shop (25 miles), I reset it up for the 70hp setting. I noticed right away that it doesn't seem to fuel as much at low rpm. BUT get it into the torque range and in 4th gear, roll into the throttle and WOW! It smokes less at "Normal" driving for economy.

BOB... . Is this the way it is supposed to be??? I like it!!! ALSO, where in the menu do you enable the high idle feature?

if you DL it on a truck will the High Idle stay on that truck like the VP trucks??

peer pressure... Im going to have to order one this weekOo. :-laf

Stock Clutch

My stock clutch held fine on the 70hp setting too, until I hooked up to my 8500 lb travel trailer. Started up a hill and made the shift to 5th gear the RPM's

came up about 200 and the truck didn't go any faster. By the 3rd time this happened on the 4th to 5th gear shift on a hill I realized that I was going to need a new clutch. Nothing against the Smarty but after 28000 miles of babying the clutch the 70hp did it in. I now have a South Bend Con Ofe in and will be using the 70 hp setting with confidence.

Lets say you DL to your truck and later need to go back to stock does it put the program that was actually in your truck with whatever flashes that the dealer may have put in back in your truck or does it DL a factory program that comes in the smarty that may not have all the updates that your truck may have? Does that make since?

The smarty will have the latest Chrysler software loaded at time of shipment and we always stay current with the factory updates.

Throttle response is not sensitive at all unless you compare it to stock. Mines on 40hp for now and it's great. The first day I drove it to work I had a grin on my face all the way. Do it!
