Bob and Marco thanks for the new revo I have the beta already loaded is this any diff from the beta you sent out 3 weeks ago to me? thanks again like I have posted in earlier threads I gained better mpg. there is alot of fine tuning that a stock or bombed truck can play with all smiles now. I will admit in the past I doubted anymore updates would come our way. thanks again it was worth the wait.

Thank you . We appreciated your patience. I really think Marco did an exceptional job on this update.

It's not done yet :-laf

But please give us some time :D

Also Thanks Bob & Marco!!

I would love to know what I'm changing "exactly" what does:

=torque management

=injection timing

=injection duration

ACUALLY CHANGE? And if I'm running my Comp should I have the Inj. timing at stock? Also can I now run sw8 with timing? Sorry for all the questions, just don't want to do something dumb@$#. . LOL

Not at all! I needed that step by step guide. The German confused me at first but I keept plugging along & got the new REVO loaded in my Smarty now.

I just plugged the new SW into my truck then set all the adjustments on high. I took it for a short spin on a back road. Nothing scientific but the SOTP meter says it's pretty snappy. :-laf

Well, I sure like this program! :D:D

However, I'm not sure what I'm doing when it comes to the torque, duration and timing adjustments. Can anyone out there give me some pointers as to what the best might be? Or, is it just whatever is the best I can find for my application?

Right now, I'm running Smarty CaTCHER #5 with torque 4, duration 3 and timing 3. It sure did put a smile on my face!

Yes, please provide info on how to change the optional settings. The new software looks good so far but I have no idea what values to input in the timing, torque, etc. It would be great to have a cheat sheet that we can download and attach to the back of the Smarty like the original. Thanks Bob and Marco

This new software is custom tuning for each indivual truck. I take tuning to find the correct setting to your liking.

The options are

5. Adjusting optional parameters

Before the programming, Smarty proposes the adjustment of the optional parameters.

To enter this function, press 2 in the Options menu:

1=Connect Truck

2=Adjust options

The list of optional parameter varies according to the installed software.

For each parameter, the current option status is shown on the first line of the display. With Smarty

numeric keyboard, the optional parameters can be adjusted.

To maintain unchanged the current parameter, press the '>' key.

You can return back one step, in any moment with the ‘<’ key.

Speed limiter

The speed limiter can be adjusted anywhere from 25 to 250 MPH in one MPH steps.

NOTE: only 2001 and 2002 trucks the speed limit value is the real MPH speed. In older trucks, the

speed limit is only a speed factor that compensate the maximum speed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Your tires might not be rated for increased speeds. Please check your tires rating!

Speed lim=Stock

New lim=___

To set the speed limiter to Stock, select 0.

Torque

The Torque selection can be programmed with a value between 1 (stock) and 6 (high). To use the

default torque setting for the current CaTCHER level, press 0.

Torque=Default

New T. =

Injection Timing

The Timing selection can be programmed 1 (stock), 2 (advanced), 3 (moderate) or 4 (wild). To use

the default timing setting for the current CaTCHER level, press 0.

Timing=Default

New T. =

Injection Duration

The Duration selection can be programmed with a value between 1 (stock) and 5 (high). To use the

default duration setting for the current CaTCHER level, press 0.

Duration=Default

New D. =

Clear as mud? :-laf

The trick here is that the optional parameters are independent of the SW level. You can set the parameters one way and run each level on those parameters, or you can run each parameter change on the same level, or you can change everything.

My results so far:

The Torque setting works! On 1, smoke at launch is greatly reduced, and by having less fuel down low, clutch out is much smoother. Power still comes on, but you have to accelerate into it more than default CaTCHER. This pretty much addresses my only issue with the SMARTY, so I'm happy with that improvement alone.

Timing - This is pretty self-explanatory. Now we have 4 timing settings instead of 2.

Durartion - Haven't got a clue what this means to the VP44?? I'd sure like to get the answer from the development team. Please.

SW - Looks like we now have 9 levels instead of the previous 6 (counting the 3 stock profiles).

All in all, this is a substantial upgrade and way ahead of any other reprogrammer. It's going to take me quite a while to sort through the myriad of combinations.

Thanks to the SMARTY team for finally delivering a very meaningful upgrade.

Regards,
Neil

Well Bob I understand how to use the Smarty, but I guess I was looking for more of a technical explanation on what each new item does. Examples:

Injection duration: is the amount of time the injector stays open on any given cycle???

Torque: Is this setting how soon the torque comes on in reference to your right foot???

Injection Timing: When the injector fires in relation to the piston stroke, and by changing it retards or advances ??? but I'm guessing it should be set to stock using a Comp with Smarty?? Bob I hope you can help me out, I just think it is better to know exactly what your changing in order to recieve the best benefit from tuning! Still clear as mud to me... LOL ... mabe I'm just not that bright... ask my wife :)

As we get familiar with these new options let's make sure we post our experiences. What's best for mileage, towing, etc.
This is great stuff for us 2nd gen's and patience does have rewards. Thanks Bob and Marco... . now I want more!!

I've now run Sw's 7 & 9 with all the options on max. I like the quick throttle on #9 but I see why many prefer something softer. I'm not sure but the truck seems snappier than the old #9 & the big difference is it's harder to make smoke. That's not a bad thing. ;)

I DD my truck every day on sw3, timing3, everything else default, seems to get better mileage. Tried to run it that way tonight with the TST Comp on and it had a terrible surge. Reset timing to default truck run awesome as always. Going to take alot of testing to see what works best with what mods. Hope everyone post what they find out, so those with similar mods can try the settings out.
