This definitely occurs only with the smarty program in the ECU.

1st gear, engine cold/cool, it will miss similar to what blue chip describes as the failing VP44/map sensor situation.

Could this be a marginal MAP sensor and the smarty program is more sensitive to it?

This is a nearly brand new Blue Chip pump, MAP sensor has been cleaned... I'm also at 4200ft-ish elevation.

I love the way the Smarty performs, except for this. It is VERY annoying.

I was having problems with what I thought was my Smarty when towing a 10K 5th wheel. I was getting a dead pedal or stutter when going up a grade. I took the Smarty off and put it in stock mode and it ran fine. This occured sporadically for over a year, except it happened more frequently. I thought it was my Smarty, but it was throwing a 0216 &1693 code each time it happened. Then it started happening without the Smarty when in stock mode. After posting my problem here and talking to a few other folks the consenus was a dying VP44 so I replaced it about 600 miles ago and have not had any problems since, however, I haven't brought out the 5th wheel yet. That test is coming up in a couple of weeks. My 2 cents. --Doug
