So you're in FL through the WY winter and you're sad about it? What - is Ol' Trail Dog tellin' us some whopper of stories about the great state of Wyoming? :-laf

I'll take WY with my wife and daughter over every pleasure of FL-- every time.

Scenario: There have been several ECM flash updates from DC on my 1998. 5 since the truck was new and if I ever get into the dealer (rarely!!!) I verify that I have the latest flash.

Say I get a SMARTY, put in SW#9  and then before I got back to dealer, I reflash back to "stock", how am I going to know that the "stock" that is contained in SMARTY is the same "stock" that D-C is now working with?

As a follow-on question... as ECM reflashes come out for various model years and the "stock" target moves, will I be able to download new "stock" softwares from Marco?

Not too big of a concern for me, but I can see where it might be an issue for some.

I am saving my pennies come tax return time and will get on the list as soon as I can.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

it's all downhill

I'm really sorry that I can't quantify hwy mpg effect of the Smarty. All I can tell you is the raw numbers-- you will have to decide what meaning you wish to give to them. - JH

Cheyenne 6000'

----------------__

--------------------__

-----------------------__

---------------------------__ Tampa 3'

So JH, would you mind running back up to Cheyenne, just to make the round trip even out the elevation changes :-laf

Seriously though, on some regular trips I make, I usually get better MPG in one direction. I attribute that to the gross elevation change. Unless I'm pulling the 5th wheel, then there's a headwind in every direction. How do they do that?

Cruise at 80  I might hit 80 passing, but then it's back down to 1800 RPM. Cruising at 65 MPH, I can net about 20 MPG empty, with tonneau cover on.

Dear Beta Testers,

What is your favorite Smarty setting?

I'd love to compile the answers on to one page for quick reference. I'm sure everyone's situation and truck setup is different, and it's totally subjective, and that's the point. Is there any consesus on a prefered setting for similar setups? Of course, if you all say #9, well I guess that works too.

Any feedback?

Thanks

Neil

Shudda' taken' em with ya. Wife must be going crazy - the winter, the kid, and you gone. ;)

I just learned of the smarty This is all pretty much GREEK to me. Can someone tell me where the ECM is located ?

Does the Smarty attach to the ECM or is it just used to program the ECM

Thanks Bill

The ECM is on the drivers side of the Cummins, about mid block.

The Smarty is a hand help programmer. The best I'm sure!

I'm turning blue as I wait for it to be released!

I must say I'm like the fuel saver mode. Still some power over stock and a little better milage... . but for towing like the #9.
