, If you have the Smarty installed with one of the Catcher programs active, do you ALWAYS have the Check Engine Light ON or is this P0602 just buried in the DTC's and only visible when you actually read the codes? That CEL and Gong would be annoying if it were persistent.

Thanks,

Mick[/QUOTE]

My check engine light never came on while using a Smarty program.

Mick, no cel at all and 0602 is just a nuisance code.

Thanks Bob!

Thanks Mick. My horses are dark & I haven't laid down & died so I figure I'm a luckier man than that. :-laf Marco now has my beta unit & is sending another. What a guy! I now have a replacement truck, thanks to a tip by CSyder. It's another '01 but an ETC 5 speed without all the extras I got used to + it's 50k miles older. :{ But now I will have a chance to try Smarty on a nearly stock truck. I wonder how hard it would be to put the new body on my undamaged chasse?

Mine is sitting in the Postal Carrier's Van as I type. Oo. I'm going down to the PO in about 15 min to see if I can pick it up.

Bob, it was sent insured, right?

Ben

Ok, quick update. I'm on level 5 and love it already. :D I am very impressed with the low end power that I have now and glad I didn't buy an EZ way back when.

Bob & Marco, good job on this project and Bob, thanks for the 100 Grand.

This was a good way to end the day.

I get the CEL along with 0602 code whenever I install a program. The CEL always goes out after a few starts, but the code remains.

Jim

Jim, I sent you a pm for cel fix and the P0602 is just a fueling calibration error message because or the new software.

Its just a nuisance code that does no harm or performance decrease.

Thanks

Bob, the PM you sent to Jim for the CEL fix... is that specific to his situation, or might others benefit from that?

Also, would all users expect to have a P0602 code stored or is that just a unique circumstance to his truck?

Thanks

Tim

The fix was for carb (california emissions trucks) and the P0602 is a fueling calibration error code that is only a nuisance code, nothing more.

I was thinking for another update, Marco could really switch it up and make versions just for guys running fueling boxes or guys with timming boxes. 9 levels of fun for each.

sorry if its been covered in the last 20 pages and ive missed it but ive been to happy playing with mine to read more.

we could have updates that start the truck on a timer system and set the radio to a station, also could he program it so the tail gate comes down when I want to load something. Also I think that when rain hits the windshield the wipers could come on.

:-laf  I feel like entertaining alittle. I havent figured out which remark to use (smart ***** or dumb *****) Im leaning towards dumb because im thinking thats almost what was typed earlier on in these posts. I could be wrong thought so fire back if i am. ;)

Ive already got the auto start on a timer, hooked it in to the remote starter (4:45 every morning).

The radio, who cares put in a cd.

The tail gate, i cannot help it if people are to lazy to lift a handle an inch.

I was just meaning that i run a TST and could potientialy have 9 levels of timing to play with instead of 4 and the guys with the edge or van akens boxes could have 9 for them with different fueling levels instead of 4 also.

I took my truck back to stock, while my Smarty is being exchanged with Bob. It is really had to believe the difference in drivability. The go pedal seems not to make the go go nearly as good as it once did. :)

smarty

Well I Got The Smarty . wow What A Gadget!! Running A Edge E-z So I Tried #4 And #8. And Couldn't Get Down Very Hard Becaused The Roads Were About 80% Ice Covered. Wow I Didn't Know How Much Torque Was Under That Hood. Returned Home And Removed The Edge E-z And Loaded Fuel Saver Program. I Won't Be Needing The Edge Any More. Made A Trip To Anchorage And Back At About 55 Mph. The Overhead Is Reading 18. 3 Which Is A Little Low But Did A Lot Of Driving In Town. I Am Running Winter Fuel. Normal Winter Driving Is Around 18 To 19 On Overhead. With Edge E-z. Will Post Again When I Get 600 Miles On Tank And Fill Up Again. Thanks Marco And Bob. Great Job.

OK, OK, OK Already...

I've been away from the TDR for a while but had a little time to investigate how the Catcher had come along and and probably order one and a spare ECM from Bob. Whoa!!! Marco has been busy!!!

Now after reading this whole thread over the course of many a night, I ordered one from Bob. My question still remains and I don't think it's been clearly answered (or I'm getting senile).

I have a Comp Edge with the pump wire tapped. I understand that I will need to use setting #8 without timing. Will the #9 setting produce as much as #8 with the Edge? My real question is, can I scrap the Edge and the pump tap and not loose performance? I also use the Edge to limit smoke in normal driving and towing. Anyone know?

I'm still a little concerned about flashing my ECM and not having the original stock code to flash back. (I've never had it updated except to change out the PCM for the DTT transmission upgrade. ) I heard too many stories about Dealers updating ECM's and resulting problems such as power decreases, etc. It runs good now, I'm just a little concerned. (The mind races... )
