the scan tool i have is one step shy of the factory tool that any domestic auto manufacturer has. i have spent several years working on the new diesels with all of their electronics, i am not intimidated by the newer stuff.



i think if i was not a skilled mechanic i would have not just walked but run away from this deal. the reason for getting this truck was to lower operating costs, so repairs dont really make that a cost effective venture. i guess though its all a crap shoot, could be good could be bad no matter what the truck looks like.

as a quick update, the dealer called me today just to touch base, the original salesman is overseeing things on this since the manager i have been dealing with is out this coming week. seems like they are on the up and up to me, anyways engine arrived friday and will be installed monday-tuesday. truck is suppose to ship wendsday, i am expecting it either thursday or friday.

About a year and a half ago, I sold my '01 Cummins. I drove a Honda Civic while I saved up for another truck. I bought a '02 1500HD Chevy. It had the 6. 0 gas, 4L80E trans, 4wd, loaded interior. It was a nice truck... but it didn't have a Cummins. I lasted about 10 months before I sold it. Now I'm back in a diesel... . but there is 1 problem. I got spoiled by the Chevy interior and my new to me '03 Dodge can't hang. Good thing I have double the horsepower and triple the torque to make up for it.

grizzly, i have to say im pretty impressed. do i miss the diesel hell yes, but the ford is pretty nice.



obviously the interior is a lot better we are talking almost ten years newer truck and the options available is a lot more. the power train is impressive, it pulls in the low end pretty well and the auto trans feels close enough to a manual that it sooths me a little. over all power, comfort, and driveability are amazing. im not putting the dodge down by any means. i loved that truck and engine, and i always will. i will also give due credit to the fact that again its a 10 year difference and technology has come a long ways since then.



also i put a programmer on it today, the edge evo cts, it was the quickest, simplist cleanest install i have ever down. i have driven it some with a couple different tunes and like the changes, as well as all the new guages that come with it. for myself the one thing i love most about this programmer is the adjustability. i can change just about any parameter i want, i know to many this can be intimidating, but i love it to me it is a lot of fun to tweak and tune vehicales.

in all i really like the truck and with the new engine i feel it will be mechanically solid, especially since i will have the chance to maintain it my way with no other i. d. 10t's having damaged it first.



anyways with all the discussion that went on about these trucks, i thought everyone might get a good laugh at this. also, yes i do miss the diesel, missed it before i even sold it, but i do like these trucks and i think i will be able to survive with one.

I had an 01 GMC Dmax. Yes the interior was nice but I find my Dodge interior up to par and I actually like the layout, the quality (except the seats) and the way the back seat area can be used with the fold flat option.



With the GMC I had the climate control. I had all kinds of issue with that system blowing out cold air on defrost. Might have had something to do with the blown head gasket LOL

You're correct in saying that 10 years makes a lot of difference. I went from a 95 Dodge/Cummins dually, which I totally loved, to my present 05 Dodge/Cummins dually. What a world of improvement.

i hate to admit it but the truck is nice, but i have always been partial to the fords. i love/loved my dodge but if it had not been for the cummins i would have had a ford a long time ago. its what i grew up around.

it did, i dont know if i mentioned it earlier, but after the truck arrived from the dealer i checked the oil, it was a quart low, and then started the engine to find out it had a check engine light. pulled and cleared codes, cel went off but code was still active in background. engine ran fine so i test drove it. no issues. long story short repair would have been inexpensive however the code cleared in a few drive cycles and has not yet returned. i was pretty ****** when i saw the cel and the comments about dark storm clouds building jumped back at me. fortunetly it seems it may have been a calibration issue that self cleared. the first few days the truck did not drive like i remember it driving when i first got it. now its back to the way it was, my theory is it is the adaptavie learning having to relearn everything.



also got my first tank of fuel through it, mixed driving was 14 and change. we will see if it improves much or not. i think, and hope, it will. based on the programmer it should come up alot. in a couple three months it will be interesting to see how it comes out cost wise compared to my diesel.
