I too, am curious. Will be watching.

Amazon reviews are mixed. Does it really smell as bad as some say?

Still have only good things to say abou them, EVERY time I hop in my truck...

... NO idea on the smell, as mine did not smell at all, out of the box, or now !!

they did help my wife some but not to the extent I had hoped, she's only 4'11" and in the passenger seat her feet don't touch the floor

I built my driver's seat up with memory foam. I tried the seat cushion but I sat too high.

However I LOVE the lumbar support when driving long distances, I have the geno's seat covers and may see how it fits behind it but then again I move the lumbar support around when driving

something that helped me alot was my right hip would go to sleep and ache when driving, I bought one of those cheap seat belt clips on ebay, I was amazed at how much it helped not having the seat belt tight on my hip, those retractors can really tighten the belt up cutting off circulation in the hip

my son just bought a 4th gen, I'd almost buy one just for the seats but I hate to give up the mileage my 5. 9 gets

I took SeaFishes lead and ordered the OBUS cushion, I have a 10 day 4K mile trip coming up - it is worth the try.

Ill report back.

Have you made that trip yet?

Another (ret) F/F with "not-so-good" back - and the lousy '05 seats - would also like to hear the *report*!

BTW - IIRC when there was lots of message exchanges "back when" with guys looking for deals on trucks . . several posters mentioned that Dave Smith Motors (Kellog, ID) had someone close to the dealership that was rebuilding the stock Dodge seats on a *very* regular basis - reportedly with excellent results.

I'm not "local" to ID, but due to DS Motors volume - might be worth looking into.

I've been working on trying to improve seat comfort for some time. I tried installing a foam excercise mat that I cut to size. It provided a slight improvement on my frequent 11 hour drives from NM to TX, but not fantastic.

I was in Target two weeks ago and found a Full size memory foam mattress topper on clearance for $12. 99. It comes in a rolled plastic cover, like a sleeping bag. I cut it to size after doubling it over, and installed it under my after-market seat cover. I just got back from another 11 hour drive, and the improvement is amazing. No more back pain or TB, and every time I sit on it I wish I had discovered it when I first bought the truck. One of these days I'll install it under the factory seat cover, but for now, this is the best cure I've found. I bought one here in NM, and another one at a TX Target store for my 5th wheels crappy mattress, so I suspect most Targets will have them until sold out. I also stuck a piece under the seat back seat cover, too. The only small downside is that I sit higher in the truck, so I had to hit the power seat adjustment to lower it. Well worth the money.
