I just figured I'd spread some info on here. I searched the board for clues to my issue, but the threads were spread out pretty thin.
If anyone has issues after installing speakers or an aftermarket CD player, I may able to help you!
3 months after installing my Pioneer head unit and 4'' speakers along with my otherwise stock Infinity 1996 2500 truck, I had a VERY annoying PITA problem!!
I had no sound at all coming from my 6 speakers out of the blue. All lights, bells and whistles worked from my head unit, just no sound from any source/input. I thought the new head unit I just installed 3 months prior took a **** and died, so i took it into an authorized service center. NOPE, it works just fine on the bench!
So I took all the speaker wires and tried to ohm them FROM the harness, no go. RE=the stock amps hinder this/inconclusive, not a direct path to the speakers. I then got ****** off, but took the POS door panels off. (THANKS A LOT DODGE FOR THE ****TY BUILD QUALITY!) I then took an ohm meter directly to the speakers, all were perfect+=~5ish ohms. I them rechecked the wires and the stock amp power wires agin, for the 6th time and wiggled the harness and door wires. POOF, it is now fixed.
When the daylight comes, I'm going to find the culprit, but I bet it is a pinched wire or harness. I swear I checked all this **** out 5 times before, though. :{
In final, never overlook anything guys, check things 3, 4, 5 times. Oh and the crappy plastic clips holding the door panles on are horrible and need to be re-ordered to keep the road noise down.
Hope this helps! JT (John) Granberry
