????DBR????

As a fellow TDR member I am wondering? Are you ready to resolve this issue? It seems obvious that Peter is willing to make it right. It reads like you just want to continue posting how you've been wronged.

Now that you have clarified the issue I am VERY familiar with what happened. The issue did not set well with me either. Well DBR, it was not right. I know it is not a monitary thing at this point but I would like you to call ME and let me make it right.

We try very hard to do our best but sometimes there is a glitch. I am truely sorry!!

Using your logic: I have agreed to do something Only to find out later that my wife said something else. What do I do? Try to work it out the best to everyone's satisfaction.

It's easy when someone is offering an apology and to "make it right". And near impossible when someone in the dispute is not willing to accept it.

Peter, simple question,

Why can't you make a massively sprung clutch and counter the the increased pedal pressure with a beefier slave cylinder to make it streetable?

gene, always in the market for new clutches.

Kwikkurt,

I have reread my postings, and nowhere have I stated or implied that I wished to reopen any issues with South Bend. I simply posted to this forum as a fellow TDR member to present my personal dealings with a particular vendor and their product, as many others have done before me. I believe that I have responded politely to all questions and have presented fact, not emotion, to the best of my ability. I appreciate the spirit of Peter's gesture and comments, however, as I stated in an earlier post, this is not a monetary issue. I find it somewhat funny that it is perfectly acceptable for members to provide glowing reviews of a vendor on this forum, but taboo for a member to post a negative experience.

Regardless if South Bend chooses to honor their original agreement or not, does that really change the character of their company in this situation? South Bend, as a group, made a decision to renege on an prior agreement and were content with that decision until I expressed my opinion in a public forum.

Now, explain to me why I should again contact South Bend? As for South Bend Clutch wishing to correct any issues, they have always had all the information on file that was necessary in order to rectify any issue if they had wished to do so.

DBR,

What I was trying to get across was that it was not a group decision, it was a one man decision that took it upon himself to make the final call when you recalled, wether his other two partners liked it or not. I stated you were the only one that had a special request but I was trying to be polite. Some asked if they could get on the list but order the clutch in a month or so when they got the money and others called who had already baught a clutch and felt that we should refund them because they were a week or two or three early. This was our first experience with a group purchase and there was a format to follow that would make it work. What my point was to you that your request was not way out there like some of the others and that he should have made an exception for you!!!! You sound like an intelligent man and I would think that you could read between the lines. I was hoping that you could see as a vendor (putting yourself in my place) what problems could arise. We wanted to provide a good deal but we did not want to cut off our nose to despite our face.

Again, I am sorry

Peter

In Conclusion

Well... ... my intent was to describe a postive buying experience and some of the results of the product experience as well as it suited my personal status. It seems that this has generated a significant amount of discussion which has gone in many directions and over a 1000 views.

I love free enterprise. That is what makes our country great. And what makes our country greater is the fact that we have so many choices.

Listening helps us learn and helps us to understand the choices. Then we factor in what we can afford, the performance, the reliability of the vendors, and then we take our chances. I guess that is just life. And life provides us experiences upon which we accumulate information, we learn and we make future decisions.

I have learned much from our friends on TDR. I am technically challenged, limited as most of us on financial resources and able to define our appropriate choices. For myself, and only myself, I am pleased to have purchased a new heavy duty clutch from South Bend Clutch. I am glad that I have met Andy via phone and respect his counsel to me as well as the testamonials pro and con which have been identified for this particular vendor. I am also very fortunate to have another good vendor local to me who is absolutely meticulous about his work and a perfectionist at installations. He also was not bashfull to call South Bend and ask for additional instructions concerning "turning the flywheel" or something like that in the proper manner and had that done according to the directions and they were willing to work with him.

Based upon the interactions that I have reviewed with respect to this thread, the door is wide open to have a mutually acceptable conclusion as indicated by Peter's desire to work to make the situation whole. It takes two to make this happen and I sincerely hope that this can be done. I guess that I have made many mistakes in my life which have provided learning experiences and I am sure that I will make a few more before the grave. In any event, I hope that I can afford the opportunity to those who also make a mistake an environment where we can encourage creativity and foster teamwork.

Sorry for this diatrobe which is lengthy. I hope that this will conclude this discussion.

Regards,

Ed :)
