Drove the truck all weekend with the new clutch and have to say that I'm impressed. Smooth as stock. I'm kind of unclear about the break in period. The instructions say to drive aggressively and that it will slip some. I think I'm driving aggressively but it has not slipped. Do I need to get more aggressive in my driving and make it slip? What exactly is "drive aggressively"?

Peter, the problem I was having with the engagement of the clutch as soon as I started moving my foot from the floor is no longer a problem. As you said, it's smoothed itself out and now is at an acceptable level (1/4 to 1/2 way out). Thanks for the great clutch.

Thanks for any insight on the break in period.

I could never make mine slip either, the SBC is stout :D what I did for a break in was when I started out I would slip it a bit more than normal... ..... kinda how our wives drive :p and it streightened right up :) Kevin

Mine has gotten smoother the more that I driven it. Some times when I dont get my foot to work right... it will feel like I am rollling off a couple of eggs. But other than that... this is a great piece of work. .

Maybe Peter's definition of aggressive is Piers' style of driving. :)

You gotta remember we got some wild men in the TDR realm. Aggressive for you or me might be babying it for some of these guys. :D :D

gitchesum <=never guilty of driving aggressive

What the paper work states... .

"Do to the nature of the feramic material slipping may occure upon insallation. Seating the clutch may be required. Drive aggresively but do not over-slip until clutch has completely seated. "

Not all of the clutches react the same every time but what we are trying to say is IF slipping occures just after the install, do not over slip it. Back off a little but keep trying untill slipping goes away. If it is working right off the bat then run with it.

The other thing is clutches need to seat themselves, so, don't go out and romp on it just after the install but also don't baby it, just get on it and if it breaks away back off a little and try again.

I hope this helps... if you have any questions feel free to call me.

Peter

I found that hooking up to a 35,000-40,000 Sled and slipping the clutch with 450+ HP to get going works well for me! ;)

SPARKY

I think what they mean by a little slipage is when the pedal is let all the way out not 1/2 way in the wrong gear w/heavy throttle :p :p

P. S. This is not a PULLING clutch

Rcpilotlv,

I got the SB MU 2001 Con OFE. I'm stock other than the few dress up items in my profile. I'd never run the risk of voiding my warranty with any BOMB's. ;)

I just installed a MU CON 0 on Friday. The clutch slipped without too much juice in 3rd right after the install. Then it held in 3rd and just slipped in fourth and fifth. After driving through the BC mountains on Sunday (up to 11% grades) the clutch was almost able to hold fifth gear. I am looking forward to full hook up!

Although It is Built for street performance... . If you stick to 3rd Low it pull's fine. . (Sorry Peter! ;) ) Let it hook up then stomp on the throttle. Since I usually only Sled Pull a few runs per year. I am still not ready to give up the Easy push Pedal, Very little chatter and SUPER LONG LIFE...

Of course you need to keep your driveshafts under your truck!! Right "Snappy". :D

Even though I slipped it a little ;) at the pulls... I am still running the same clutch I had in that day. You can add at least 20 1/4 mile runs... . I tow lots of trailers for my RV Repair Business . . I give "DEMO" rides in my truck almost every day, Just returned from two trips to Colo (1500 each trip) Pulling Flatbed loads over 24,000 lbs and was checking performance by starting the loads several times from a standing start on 7-8% grades at over 10,000 to 14,000 feet elev... Also doing many 1/4 mile style runs with the loaded trailer. . and as of a three demo runs yesterday (Slip Shifting at Full throttle) The clutch still works great. I may get the local Dodge dealer to replace the transmission... . (100,000 miles) it is getting hard to down shift and I have been finding pieces of gear teeth when I change the fluid. So I may take a look at it then and replace the Clutch cover if needed.
