Or reply #59, and while an old topic, at least some of us are still interested in the topic. I have the air bags installed and like the softer ride, especially when my 2900 pin weight goes across road gaps on some of our less than great interstates. Is there a reason why we can't do both? Looking at the pictures that are available, it looks like there is enough clearance, even though it does look tight.

I lowered mine the first day and went to put the air bags in and they wouldn't fit. So I had to raise the truck back up again before I could install the bags. About 6 wasted hours.

good info here. I already have bags and have been thinking about removing mine, I guess it's out... PLUS I have the MH cover already!

For the people who have done this. Did you raise both sides at once or lift one side at a time then put it back down? I was thinking you could lift by the receiver. Did you remove tires and put on jackstands to get more access? I have the liners and they seem to get in the way.

I lowered mine by taking the spacers out and then putting airbags in and they work great. I used the Firestone Ride-Rite kit for a 2006 2500 HD 4x4.

that's what I wanted to hear!!

that's what I wanted to hear!! I wanted to add the air-bags to my 05 4x4 dually. I have had the spacers out since new--like the look--but was concered the bags might not work! :)

My 07 2500 has 3 spacers on it. I'll probably have to remove them for my 5ther. I'm guessing you can remove all 3 spacers?

Okay, so what length bolts do I need to replace the old ones? Guess I could measture the spring stack and add a little.

So here the silly question, what torque are the bolts tighten to. ? Does anybody remember what the used. Or just as tight as you can get them?

klenger,

Did you use just one bottle jack and c-clamp. Jack on one side of axle clamp on other? Getting ready to do this myself and want to get it right the first time. Like having all the tools at the ready and not have to got search for something in the middle of the project.

You pick on web site are great help, thanks in advance.

Did it got it done. The bolt and the plate were rusted together had to use a little force to get it off. It looks nice and level or pretty close.
