Jesse, sounds like you found yourself a cheap solution to the problem. My experience has been that the Big Three like to save a buck where they can, so they use the same part for different models. If that van is setup like yours, then cannibalize that sucker and use what you can. If it works, then you've got yourself a free fix.

Good luck

Success! I have a speedo. again. I tore into it on Sat. I tried replacing that black box first, didn't fix it. So I started tearing apart the harness. I actually found the problem only about 3-4 inches from the plug in for the sensor. My buddy tore it apart before I could get some pictures to post but what had happened was the wire broke inside the insulation. The only visible sign was that the wire had balled up ever so slightly inside the wire, you could see a tiny little bump. obviously the insulation was still intact so it wasn't obvious. Anyways, took it apart and robbed the pig tail off of the harness I also stole from my donor van and wired it in. I did make sure that the harness was secured a little better than before, obviously all the bouncing around eventually broke it. FYI- You can get that pig tail from Dodge for only about $20 if that is the problem with your truck in the future. Thanks to all for your help and suggestions!

Good thread - I too had this problem and found the problem to be less than a foot from the sensor plug-in on the rear diff. Soldered it up and I'm good as new.
