Anyone else see this months issue of Jp (jeep) magazine where they put a spicer 3053a out of a 2 1/2 ton M35 military Deuce into a m715 Jeep pickup... Well the basics of it are cheep trans... less than 900$ rebuilt... it is an overdrive . 85 or . 75 depending on model and only 1" longer than the NV4500... It also is rated for 23. 8k gvwr... the 4500 is only rated at 14. 5k... . input shaft is 1 1/2 -10 spline and the output is 1 1/2 - 10 spline... needless to say no more broken input shafts... .
now for the bad news right no one makes an adapter for a marred transfer case (rube adapter is reportedly working on one) ... so a divorced transfer case is the only way to put one in right now. . and to put one behind a cummins we would have to find the right SAE adapter plate. . (shouldn't be that hard)
Well what do you guys think ... this is one I have never seen talked about before doesn't look that much bigger than a Gutbag. . and a whole lot more bulletproof... and with the whole trans costing less than the parts to fix a burnt Getrag it looks good. . I am going to call Rube tomorrow and ask if they are working on one and if so what the cost would be to mate to a 205. . I may have to pay for a custom adapter and move the drive lines around a bit but it would be the end of transmission issues... ...
