Mundgyver,

I will have to PM you when I get back from Iraq. I can get a second Alt. bracket and send it to you for the Spinner mount.

It is a press fit :) Steel to Stainless won't solder. I guess what I ought to do is see how many of these I can get my hands on and make up a few to sell. Just an idea.

You can sweat solder stainless to steel if the clearances are right, you would need 1/4" minimum insertion (more would be better) and less than . 01" play in the coupling.

I just weld them up now. Works very well. I can now weld stainless or regular. The last ones I did I just used regular welding and they came out fine.

BenHall, where are you in Iraq if it is allowed? I was in the first war over there with HMM-165, USMC. Spent some time up around Bosina and we were the last ones out of Somila providing covering support for the Army.

Was not as bad then as I imagin it is now. Keep your head on a swivel, flak jaket zipped up, weapons at the ready and be safe.

It might not look like much, but Micro-Terrain  can offer some comfort when in the middle of a fire fight, even if it is a few blades of grass :D

Been there and done that. ;) Keep safe & Semper-Fi.

I'm on the edge of Baghdad at the airport. I guess the nice thing about being a flyboy (AF) is that we are stuck to the base. It's an instant article 15 or court martial and a ride back home if you leave the Victory Base Complex.

Ben

What are you flying or working on. I learned on A4's then worked Ch-53's to Uh-1N's and then Ch-46's before the made me go to the grunts as a 1stSgt. . Yep, been there and done that :D 21 1/2 years. I retired in 95.

You guys still use Liquid Wave Guide Alignment Tubes on the aircraft :D

You do know what they are right ;)

I suppose you have seen yourself from up above already :D Old guys like me like to revisit places and good old Google Earth helps out. :D

Yep, it is 0820 right now. I don't touch the aircraft, which is a good thing. My job is dealing with the chem/bio warfare and emergency management. They keep finding the bad stuff around here, and its a good thing no one has figured out how to use it!

I haven't the airport from above, but I've been around the whole place a few times. It's hard to believe how big this place is, but it is HUGE!

Back to topic, will this only work with Amsoil or will it work with other oils? I currently use Rotella in my 02 and don't really care to switch brands.

Ben

Just got in, will do some looking and get back. I do not know why the Oil-Tech is being hard to get ahold of. I delt with them by phone when I bought mine. I be back in a little bit with info for you.

I bought one about a year ago before I noticed that there are no 3rd gens running it. I've been thinking of miling off the oil cap and tube and making a mount for it right there as there will be no need for a return line, just a supply line. I think it will fit there if some milling is also done on the plastic cover.

Servicing might be an issue but I havn't looked at it all the way. I'm not much of an R&D person

I had thought about that also, just mounting it to the valve cover. Problem was clearance in the front but ok in the back. Next problem was would I have clearance inside the cover for the bolts to hold it down with. My thinking was that the valve train is rather close to the cover. Thats whay I mounted the way I did. I suppose I could have just had it welded down to the cover. They are both mad out of aluminum.
