when i put on my lights both high and low come on is right please help and all parts new

If low beam works normally, but on high beam both high and low bulbs operate, one possibility is that a Brite-Box has been fitted. This is a device, obtainable from Geno's Garage, which uses this technique to give a brighter high beam effect than standard. OTOH if that does not describe your vehicle lighting, you may have a fault. Here's the link to the Brite Box:

Do you mean all 4 bulbs are lit and only 4 elements are engergized (low beams)? Or all 4 bulbs are lit and all 8 elements engerized (high beams on)?

I know with mine, it appeared that all were lit up all the time. When on low, the low filiament of all four bulbs will be on, and the high filaments off. When on high beam, all four high filaments will be on and all four lows off. UNLESS you have a brite box. Its sometimes hard to tell.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure. The improvement was so dramatic over the standard lights I just assumed that all 8 had to be burning when in high beam mode, but I could be very wrong on this. I'll have to check. I used the SUV harness and nothing else, so whatever that setup yields is what i have.

Do this.

Try this. Pull your truck up against the house, a building, etc. Turn the headlights on. Pull the stick back and click on the high beams. With your RIGHT hand, click the stick back, then with your LEFT hand turn the headlight switch OFF. You should see some of the beams dissappear. Then let go of the stick. If it goes off then. You're good to go.

My truck behaves exactly as you describe. So only 4 filaments are lit at any one time. Either 4 low or 4 high, but never all 8? Correct? (Assuming no crazy wiring or additional boxes)

You got it.

You got it... Only four filaments at any given time. The only way to get all 8 to burn at the same time is to hold the stick back, or put on a brite box. The difference with mine was so great, I decided I didnt neet the brite box. Its plenty bright enough on dim or bright. I dont drive fast enough to need to see that far away.

Using the SUV harness, you have all 4 lows on low, and only all 4 highs on high.

This IS a dramatic improvement over the standard setup. This is the way my '96 operates.
